Groucho Marx on Books 'It may be that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong-but that's the way to bet.' Damon Runyon on Gambling 'I'm not offended because I know I'm not dumb. I also know I'm not a blonde.' Dolly Parton on Insults 'Life is a banquet, and some poor suckers are starving to death.' Auntie Mame on Life 'When you marry your mistress, you create a job vacancy' James Goldsmith on Marriage 'I think fidelity is a very good idea - now that I can't walk.' John Mortimer on Morality 'They misunderestimated me.' George W. Bush on Self-Knowledge

I found this book very disappointing and banal. A waste of money in my view. I would buy 'The Funniest Thing You Never Said' by Rosemarie Jarski, which is a wonderful book of humorous quotations that kept me laughing from cover to cover.
