Format: Cards
For anyone who has read The Four Agreements, this card set is an ideal way to remind yourself of the core messages from the book.

The set comes in a sturdy square box with a flip top lid and contains 48 cards, all carrying individual art work on one side and an appropriate message on the other. Each agreement has 12 corresponding cards.

This is an ideal way to practise the messages in the book. As another reviewer has suggested, pick one at random and make that your focus for that particular day. Next day pick a different one. A great way to consistently practise The Four Agreements.

I often have to get involved in customer services work, sometimes people can be hostile without good reason. Having one of these cards in front of me (Don't Take Anything Personally)is a great reminder that people react due to their reasons or their beliefs and its nothing to do me. I can take their emotional poispon or refuse it. As I say, a great reminder in the lessons.

Whilst the message is simple, the effect of implementing this can have a profound effect on one's life and give way to much more personal freedom and inner peace which cannot be a bad thing.

So, my advice, if you've read the book and want to implement it properly, this card set is a great way to do it.

I love the Four Agreements and have read and valued all of Miguel Ruiz' books. And I like inspirational cards, so this seemed to be made for me. However... it fails on every front. Design-wise, 5 different illustrators were involved and the result is a mess which bears no similarity to the stunningly beautiful jacket illustrations used for all the books and indeed for the external packaging of this product as well. What you get inside is totally different in style, colour palette and fonts and not in any way appealing to me. Then there is the words. It's not obvious how to make 48 cards out of 4 agreements. Somebody in marketing thought it was a good idea but I'm guessing Ruiz himself had little to do with the texts chosen. The agreements themselves are along the top, then elsewhere on the front of the card is a banner with another short text, usually of a trite nature such as 'Don't overdo' or 'Embrace your freedom', scrawled in a variety of ghastly fonts which clash with the elegant one used for the 'agreements'. Worse still, there seems to be little connection between these screeching exhortations and the agreement they are supposed to illustrate or amplify. For example,'Don't make assumptions' features "Be yourself around others", while 'Be impeccable with your word' has "Replace fear with love". The backs of the cards are the best part, simply quoting passages from the book, usually one or two sentences, some of which are related to the banner texts on the front or at least share keywords. And at least they only change the colours and backgrounds and keep the font the same. Unfortunately though they are all in shouty capital letters so it is much easier simply to read the book.
But the worst thing is the ugly pictures on the front, which seems to have nothing to do with any of the texts. I can find no use for these cards.

Such great life messages and the cards are absolutely beautiful. But advise buying them with or after the book.

This remarkable little book is the only 'self-help' book I've come across that lives up to its genre. It contains profound truths, is incredibly practical as the four agreements are easy to remember. Many blessings to the author.
