5.0 out of 5 stars A companion to the Warrior Wisdom series 12 Dec. 2014
Wisdom of the Elders in my opinion, is not “just” a which is full of quotes. It is obvious that Dr Sanders has meticulously researched the subject of Wisdom as the reader will see when he/she first opens the book. In my opinion, the thing that makes Wisdom of the Elders stand out is the fact that the book can also be used as an extension to the other books written by Dr Sanders. Take a certain topic which is discussed in Dr Sander’s book “Defensive Living”. Then look for this topic in Wisdom of the Elders. The two books seamless compliment each other. It is almost as if Dr Sanders has purposely published Wisdom of the Elders in order to fully enhance his other books. I found this to be a stroke of genius. The book also sits very comfortably alongside any other book on philosophy or self-knowledge. This book is a master piece in the series of books written by Dr Sanders.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected Wisdom 14 Aug. 2009
By Caroljane - Published on
I just finished slowly reading Wisdom of the Elders. Slowly because the book is not one to be read quickly. :)

It is filled with quotes from everywhere and I found I needed to stop and think about the quotes.

I was so surprised to find a book filled with wonderful quotes, under different headings... like Actions, Character, Virtue, Sincerity and more ... some quotes very similar and yet separated by centuries and/or cultures.

It introduces us to quotes from many different brilliant brains and invites research into the past ... to help build a solid foundation for today and the future.

This book is good for for anyone who is trying to be a better person. It can be an invaluable reference book... to be used over and over again. I want to send one of these books to my grandson.

Inspirational and well worth spending the money for this book, though I wish it was a bit less money since it seems a bit pricey. Wisdom of the Elders

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource 9 Dec. 2009
By Jeremiah L. Olson - Published on
This book is fantastic. It is not something that you just sit down and read all of the way through. I often look at this book at the begining of my day and take a few quotes and just ponder them throughout the day. It is so nice to have great quotes in one book and organized in categories. I would recommend this book to anyone who has days when you are searching for a little inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a must have book for anyone interested in fantastic quotes. One of the best ever published. 12 Sept. 2012

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As a long time lover of inspirational books, having collected numerous volumes, this book went to the top of my personal list of great quote books. It is a book that has thousands of incredible meaningful quotes in just about every topic imaginable. This amazing book has more than 4,800 quotes. The reason I have not written a review of this book sooner is because I wanted to read it from cover to cover, and it took a while to absorb all the material this book contains.

This text can be considered a guide to living your life in a meaningful way. Some of the topics covered include: Wisdom of the elders, wisdom of books, character traits of the wise man, character, virtue, truth, sincerity, honor, courage, justice, self-control, self-knowledge, actions, secrets, advice, fear, time and life, love, the spirit, good and evil, death, destiny and much, much more.

In conclusion, if you love quote books that can increase the sum total of your knowledge and possibly even change your life, this is a must have book for your personal library.

Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Predator Hunter: A warrior's memoir)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom of the Elders!!!!! 27 Oct. 2009
By Victor Jackson - Published on
This is a book for those seeking answers. It was not written for a quick read and then put back on the shelf. I have to admit that I liked the other books written by Dr. Sanders better, but this one is more of a thinkfest like 'Firside Meditations'. You really must sit down and think about the categories and comments. I was not ready for Wisdom of the Elders when I first got it. That feeling soon past. Wisdom of the Elders is a mental exercise.

Thank you Dr. Sanders for looking at sources from several cultures and countries, years and even centuries apart. It has confirmed that despite our differences we are more alike than we are not alike. The phrase, "There is nothing new under the sun", comes to mind. Who said that?

If you like your life the way it is and thinking is not in your vocabulary put this book down. On the otherhand if you are willing to check your egos and read what others have said about subjects dear to your heart like Self-Control, Self-reliance, Your Mind and Thoughts or my personal favorite Success and Wealth then this is the book for you. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to get back to my book....

5.0 out of 5 stars Literary equivalent of comfort food. 11 Mar. 2010
By Uncle Chuck - Published on
I have the entire collection of Dr. Sanders writings. This one is a little different than the rest in that it is missing his added commentary that I enjoy so much. You can still get his message from the selection of quotes he has chosen. I was amazed at the shear volume of the quotes and the wide array of sources they come from. The amount of time Dr. Sanders had to invest in gathering these resources over the years is staggering to consider to say the least. I keep this edition on my desktop to get references for my own writing, the amount of time it saves me makes it more than a worthy investment. If I had a cabin in the mountains somewhere, I would keep a copy of it right by my favorite chair to read and reflect on in peaceful solitude. There is simply no end of food for thought and meditation contained in this book. I hope you get a chance to partake and revel in the wisdom of the elders.
