I bought this remote a few weeks ago. While it worked at a short distance, I couldn't get it to work at a distance of more than 1-2 metres, making the remote pretty much useless.

I sent it back and was refunded without quibble (thank you Amazon). Since then I bought the official Canon remote, which only costs an extra £5 or so. It works perfectly well at distances exceeding 5 metres!

It may well be that I was simply unlucky to end up with a defective unit here (other reviews of this remote seemed pretty good, which is why I bought it in the first place). Still, for an extra fiver, I think it's a no brainer to save yourself some time and buy the official Canon remote which works like a treat.

Does what it is supposed to out of the box. You must set your camera (550d in my case) to remote trigger (same switch as timer/delay shot), then it works fine. I don't have the Canon original to compare it against but it seems to do what it is supposed to.

Hi there,
Always wanted a remote for my camera, came across this one, which seemed worth a shot, I took the chance and ordered it, got it 30 mins ago and was stuck with how to use it, checked the manufacturers website not on it, then amazon no help, other users mentioned about cables attached to camera, or that it is only used to close the shutter! no cables no manual.

Well I did what we all forget to do and that is to Read the manual, checked the camera manual and it tells you to set the camera up for self timer and then point the remote at the remote sensor and it will auto focus (if on) and then take the shot. Guess what it worked. Looking closely at the self timer button it also has a little image that could be associated with a remote, so hey presto!

Would have give it 5 stars if there had been a note of some sort even to tell you to check out the user manual of you camera for how to use it!

Hope this helps others, to save time and effort.

I ordered this on Saturday for my Canon 600D and it arrived on Tuesday morning well packed and in good shape. Although there are no instructions, it works intuitively and fired off my camera without fuss, with and without delay. Thoroughly recommended!

I didn't get the remote on the pictures, I got one from Yongnou Digital.

First of all it didn't come with an instruction, all it says is its name, it's brand and that it's made in china.

Second of all I've tried everything, even googled and searched on youtube for help, nothing worked. This remote DOES NOT work for Canon EOS 600D or T3i, as some calls it.

Definitely NOT HAPPY about this.

As Canon don't do a wireless remote for my EOS 1000D I bought this one. It was delivered in two days. On opening the box I was concerned there was no instructions, but with a bit of common sense I put the battery in fitted the receiver onto the hot shoe, connected the cable to the camera and it worked. After playing with it for about half hour trying different switch settings on the remote it seems I made a good buy.

Bought this for my Canon 500D. Straight out of the box it worked without any hassle. Simple to use and self explanatory. The box has chinese text and there is no manual. However, this is not a problem as it is quite obvious what the buttons do. Build quality is good. Cord length is ca 30 cm. Battery is included in the package. I haven't tried if it works 200 meters away but the range is good enough for me.
