Okay, so I finally had some time to play around with this new Mad Catz force feedback wheel for a little longer. I must say I was eagerly awaiting for this wheel to come out, hoping that XBOX360 will finally get some decent wheel in mid-range level, similar to Logitech DFGT. At least - that was true until I saw the price tag on the official Mad Catz website. Judging by the price it should be really good wheel not too far it terms quality and capabilities from Logitech G27 or even Fanatec wheels. Unfortunatelly something went wrong here but let's start from the beginning.
Starting with the wheel itself - the quality is not bad, although you can hear some squeaking while using it or trying to hold it firmly. The plastic is mediocre in terms of quality, overall feel is a little cheap. Only 270 degrees rotation is not great, but would do for an entry wheel. The connection to the console is also pretty straightforward. The force feedback is really good, probably the best thing about this wheel. The sequential shifter is worse, it has poor response and feels toyish. The only good thing about it is is that you can mount it on both sides of the wheel.
Now moving on to the pedals. This is probably the worst part of the whole package. I already new that because these pedals are the same as in older Mad Catz wheel (the one without force feedback) which I was using. Those pedals were terrible before and nothing has changed with the launch of new wheel. They put here the same crappy pedals as for much, much cheaper wireless non-force feedback wheel! No improvement at all. The mounting of the pedals is bad, they are unresponsive, the pedal progression is bad, and in overall they work very clumsy. No clutch as well.
To sum up - this could be a great starter wheel for someone who want to take console racing a little bit more seriously and fun at the same time. However with current price this wheel must compete with Fanatec wheels which is completely not possible for Mad Catz in terms of quality and features.
