In case you haven't figured it out based on the other reviews, the Rock Band 3 wireless Fender Stratocaster guitar controller is simply a less colorful carbon copy of its Rock Band 2 predecessor, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You won't find any extras here. It doesn't work with the much-hyped exclusive RB3 pro-mode. It doesn't add anything that wasn't already there, and it certainly won't improve how well you play. It is, quite simply, a monotone redress with some new branding and a nicer instruction manual. That is, however, fine by me. Harmonix almost perfected the standard RB2 Stratocaster, so there wasn't much room for improvement aside from some minor user preferences. While many liked the colorful wooden sunburst finish, I have always been a fan of the traditional black and white Stratocaster popularized in the movies and used in the first Rock Band. The original Rock Band Stratocaster wasn't wireless and had a colorless plastic neck among many other early deficiencies, but I always liked the monotone color scheme. There really isn't any legitimate reason I can recommend this over it's Rock Band 2 counterpart aside from the new branding and updated instruction manual, but it's certainly not a bad controller. It is fully compatible with every version of Rock Band and most Guitar Hero games. If you like to collect fake plastic guitar controllers or simply want the traditional RB3 version, this is the one to get.
