Remarc is a Briton called Marc, while Soundmurderer is an American called Todd.

For anyone already into cutup breakbeats/shouty Jamaicans/bassy car stereos these three (studio?) mixes are as exciting as it gets. Really, I don't expect them to be surpassed. But it's not a good introduction to the genre... try Logical Progression by Bukem or Timeless by Goldie.

Initially, I was a little put off by this album. "60 tracks mixed into 69 minutes? Must sound ridiculous" ... and it does sound ridiculous ... ridiculously good!

The Soundmurderer (aka Remarc) is the brains behind some classic Jungle tunes (including the excellent R.I.P. and Unity). A selection of his greatest hits can be found on the album "Soundmurderer", released on the Planet Mu label in 2003.

The album is split into 3 expertly mashed up, frantic, mixes containing some of the rinsing-est jungle riddims you are ever likely to hear. Alongside some of the mid-90s classics, there are even tracks by Squarepusher and Luke Vibert (under his Wagon Christ alias) for you idm fans out there.

It's a testament to Remarc's ability that there are so many songs mixed together into such a (relatively) short time and it never comes close to sounding a mess.

The Soundmurderer really has outdone himself here. An absolute classic.

One of the best ragga jungle mixes ever 23 Oct 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Soundmurderer puts together one of the fiercest, most pumping ragga sets of all time for your mind-blowing enjoyment. The energy level of this mix does not lag from the earth-shattering opening of Remarc's "R.I.P.", but wails through 52 other great ragga jungle tunes for 70 minutes of classic reggae and dancehall meeting the tight rolls, loops and gut wrenching of full force jungle (drum and bass).
Although too many tracks to list, this set features the big names of 90's jungle like Kemet Crew, Shy Fx, and Krome & Time with their killer, doubled bpm remixes of dancehall kings like Ninjaman, Michael Prophet, and Sly & Robbie.
This album puts together the best of both worlds in an amzing display of DJ vision. A must have!

What was old is new again. 15 Nov 2003

Thank god that ragga is still around, and it's people like Soundmurderer who make it so. Throwin' down all of the old dancehall ragga classics from such legends as Barrington Levy, SHY FX, and a $h!t ton of others. Some of the best track selection i've ever heard, and I've been in the scene since 96'. Keep a close eye on R.A.W's old sets also, he has some similar soundclash sets. Lets keep dem' chunes a rollin' out. Respect.

I consider this CD a must have. Especially if you want to listen to that old school jungle sound.
