Well, here it is - I've been waiting for it since mid May and I was not disappointed. After the hard time I had with PoD, (i.e. I had to read it three times for it to stick in my head - Jordan's books usually go in the first time) I was hoping for something to keep my attention, and I was rewarded with a book that kept me saying "I'll just read a bit more... Maybe another chapter... or two..." It really was a book almost equal to his earlier offerings. We had many loose ends tied up, including the identity of one of the characters that I am sure will soon become a major feature, and the true identity of Corlan Dashiva, although I thought that this could have been fleshed out a little more. Having started reading the morning I got it, I finally finished at about 7pm that evening, and am re-reading it again to make sure I got everything I could out of the book. I would heartily recommend it to any WoT fan.

This book is just what Jordan needed I was really starting to get board with the last couple of books. I think that the problem Jordan had made is that he has now to many characters. I like to read about Rand, Perrin, Mat, the black tower and the battles but now I seem to reading about every person who is remotely connected to the story line. I think this why his first books where so good because he was concentrating all his efforts on 6 or 5 people now it is spread out to about 30. I mean do we really want read about emotions of all the women in the book, chapters and chapters like this drives me insane. I begin to feel that it is a romance and not a fantasy if Jordan was not so good at putting so much detail into battles I would have long ago given up. I find this new book very addictive. I really enjoyed the parts about mat and rand. At the end I just really needed to read more i was so hooked I just wish he could hurry up and release the new one. This is a huge improvement on the last 2-3 books and i just hope he can keep it up.

What can I say that has not already been said? i began reading this series by pure chance, the first book wasn't brilliant but had enough scope to make me buy the next. As the series went on however, the plots got thinner, the charachters more elusive and the descriptive text longer. I think that the charachters are excellent and each acts as you would expect them too, having gotten to know them. My main gripe about this series is, like has been said many times, that there is simply no action or real suspense to the novels which is a shame because so many oppertunities pop up to make this a true classic. I have also begun to absolutely detest the lengthy meanderings as Mr Jordan goes into great detail describing every colour, sound, smell and thought of every step or action at any given time, one character asks a question and it is answered two pages further on when you have forgotten what the question was. It is unfortunate that I am one of those people who has to finish a series once I have started it *sigh* but I doubt that Robert Jordan will be top of my christmas wish list in the future. I have certainly read much better, for example, Marc Alexanders Wells of Ythan series which only contains four books but more than makes up for it in gripping content. I could not put them down.

Continued brilliance
THis book continues the style and excitement we have come to expect from Robert Jordan. It just continues the the clever sstoryline of an apparently doomed man.

Best since book 5!
For me, this is easily the best of the series since Fires Of Heaven. Book 6, 7 and 8 are all great (although Lord Of Chaos is overly long) but this book is up there with the early... Read more

A big improvement in terms of plot and structure.
By book nine, the rumour mill had seriously hinted to me, the Wheel of Time becomes slow, stale and boring as it plods tediously on getting nowhere nearer its conclusion. Read more
