Review

'Stunningly original' - GUARDIAN 'Fabulously illustrated' - SUNDAY TIMES 'Packed with action and adventure. There is a touch of the Lewis Carroll to its authors' enthusiastic and uninhibited inventiveness and to the illustrations' Starburst 'This series is so exceptional... I'd bet good money on it still being in print a century from now' Interzone

Another Edge Triumph! 23 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Kicking off a bit after the curse of the gloamgozer finished, Quint arrives at the knights academy ready to begin training. As usal, the book has a good sence of adventure, the realtionships between the characters seem to click together poroperly, and, as is becoming common is some of these later edge-books, the winter knights has a very blood-thirsty battle-scene, which respectivly has just the amount of blood-lust any child, teenager or adult wanting to read will want. There is more politics in this book, fresh plotters seek power in the floating city, the uproar of stormphrax-era sanctaphrax is powerful.

Not forgetting, ofcourse the major wonder of the riddles superb line drawings, as he perfects every scene and wonder of sanctaphra and the addition of the titanic cloud-eater!

For any fan of children's or just good fantasy get this book! Death to the Earth Scholar's! Praise Sky!

I'm 22 years old and first started reading the Edge chronicles when i had just started high school, I remember it being world book day and seeing the small novella "Cloudwolf" for sale after my eye was grabbed by Chris Ridell's amazing illustration on the front cover.
After i read "Cloudwolf" i bought "The curse of the Gloamglozer" and after than my Nan bought me the Twig series box set and from there i went on to collect the rest before i slowly forgot about the books.
Recently i remembered the series after seeing my collection on the book shelf and decided to look online to see if anymore had been published and was happy to see three more had so i went to the library and checked "the winter knights" out.

It was like falling back into an old world that you can only remember as a vague dream, the characters, the cities, the creatures, the names etc.
I was hooked from the very first page and it was amazing to learn backstory of characters i had read about in further books before this was published.
I'm going to definately read the last 2 books but i'll be sad that a part of my childhood is closed one i have, these books are amazing especially for children.
Stuart weaves amazing worlds out of words and Ridell's illustrations are just perfect, i couldn't imagine the books without them.

I advise everybody to read these books, you won't regret it... I didn't :D
