Book Description

Want to learn more about history, but don’t think you have the time? Think again.

Winston Churchill was the bulldog spirit behind the British victory over Germany in World War Two. Well know for his oratory, Churchill’s speeches were vital for building public morale during the war, particularly in 1940 and 1941, when Hitler was advancing through western Europe and Britain was heavily bombed during the blitz. He was also a journalist, painter and author, and was granted a State funeral on his death in 1965.

The Very Brief History series is intended to give the reader a short, concise account of the most important events in world history. Each book provides the reader with the essential facts concerning a particular event or person; no distractions, just the essential facts, allowing the reader to master the subject in the shortest time possible.

With The Very Brief History series, anyone can become a history expert!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good overview containing all the key facts 25 April 2014
By Paul M
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I often get discouraged when I look at a biography that appears unnecessarily lengthy. All too often authors spend time going into great detail about the personal lives of the subject and in many cases this level of detail doesn't add anything to the story.

This book appealed to me because it seemed to offer a different approach - a simple potted history containing only the most important information. Offering more than a Wikipedia profile but much less than a full blown biography, this book is perfect for busy people who simply want to find out the key facts!

3.0 out of 5 stars Simplistic view 4 Sept. 2013

A few typos in the script and as you would expect a very high level and simplistic view of Winston Churchill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Covers all the basics you need to know 6 Feb. 2013
By Dennis Waller - Published on Amazon.com

Got this book for our son, he is studying Winston Churchill at the moment in school. He found everything he needed to know in one place. After doing his report based on this ebook, he made a 94. That in itself is a great thing. I read the ebook too and found that the author covered everything in a well laid out and concise manner that is easy to understand and remember. All the highlites are there that should give anyone reading this ebook a more than basic working knowledge of who Winston Churchill was. So, needing a primer on Churchill, then this is the ebook! Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Overview 4 Feb. 2013
By Elise - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was well organized and did a good job of covering Churchill's life and accomplishments from birth until death. It wasn't a "work of art" in terms of writing, but that's precisely the point of a series like this--to give readers the best overview of a topic without all the padding. All in all it's a pretty good little book. I think it would have been better if there had been references at the end, but still worth a look for anyone interested in Winston Churchill or History in general.

If you are a history enthusiast, a student, or just looking to expand your knowledge, this is an excellent book for you. The book follows the life and career of Winston Churchill. While he was a well-known public figure throughout England and the world, this gives details of his early life, personal life, and military history. If you do not know much about this man, this is an excellent start to learning about who he was.
