I played this game for the first time last weekend with my 2 nephews, aged 13 and 10, and their dad. I was immediately hooked! It's fun for all ages, nobody gets bored waiting their turn as everyone is constantly building and changing their crosswords, and it gets much faster and more exciting as the game progresses and the letters are all used up! It teaches language skills, memory, co-ordination and even listening, as everyone has to take another letter when someone shouts "peel", which gets hectic as everyone can be shouting at once, and of course trying to be the first to finish! In our game we allowed proper names, abbreviations and foreign words to give the boys more scope, but a set of proper rules are included for those who want to stick to them completely. The game is completely self-contained in the banana-shaped bag, no awkward board to carry about, no dice to spend half the game scrambling under the table for, no letter scores to add up, just good, simple fun and I would recommend it to anyone! The price is also impressive: I have seen the game in other catalogues at almost twice the price (which actually would still be good value!). I was also impressed that my two nephews were so involved with the game that they continued to play, even with my 6 year old son begging them to go and play video games with him! Anything educational that holds kids' attention for upwards of an hour on a Saturday night has to be a good thing! I immediately ordered a set of Bananagrams for us to play with at home or on holiday (it would easily fit into a rucksack or handbag), as my 6 year old loves playing with words, and have so far ordered 3 further sets to give as presents. An ideal stocking filler or kids birthday party gift!
Fun, simple, educational and compact: everything a game should be!
