Lily Thomas is an aspiring young ski champion training for the Olympics, a young woman with her heart set on winning the gold. But in one moment, Lily's future is changed forever, her hopes for the Olympics swept away in a tragic accident. Her father Bill has pinned all his hopes on his only daughter, and his dreams are now destroyed.

Dr. Jessie Matthews, the neurosurgeon who operates on Lily that night, endures a tragedy of her own, and other brave survivors also fight to alter the course of destiny and refuse to be defeated. When Bill builds a remarkable rehab facility for his daughter, countless lives are forever altered, and each becomes a winner.

Winners is about more than surviving - it is about courage, victory, and triumph.

This has been one of Danielle steel's best novels yet. Pre ordered it and got it downloaded on 10 th October and I found that I could not put the book down and that I got totally engrossed in it without realising the time. Every bit as good as forever friends. Dorothy Francis

2.0 out of 5 stars Gripping? Not really. 13 Feb 2014
By jasmin
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I used to read Steel in high school and remember her books fondly, but I simply couldn't get into the characters or their stories and Steel's frequent use of 'and' at the beginning of sentences had me gritting my teeth by the end. As for the end - ridiculous tying up of loose ends with every main character finding love with another.

I got to the point where I was a bit awash with Danielle Steels novels and the story lines were just a bit too Hollywood type based for me . After a break however I tried this novel and really enjoyed it

3.0 out of 5 stars The usual format.... 21 July 2014
By jg
Format:Hardcover
Usual DS format;- high achieving female character suffers personal tragedy but but by the end of the book everything is resolved and it's happy ever after.
In this case it was a bit over the top and we had multiple characters being paired off in rather a hurried ending!
Easy reading that does not require concentration but I am increasingly wondering whether the author is trying to set a record for the number of books she writes each year?
I got the chance to borrow this copy and I think that this review could apply to most books by DS as she relies on the same formula consistently. However, I still end up reading some of her novels each year so I can't be too critical!
Ideal for comfy, easy reading and you know a happy ending is always guaranteed.
