Book Description

Nov 1993 Loveswept
A stunning beauty with an air of seductive innocence, Kendall James looks like the proverbial dumb blonde—and she plays the part to perfection. But it's all an act of self-preservation, for her lovely face belies the experience of a woman who's seen too much...a woman who's traveled the world and said one too many goodbyes. Now, on an island paradise, Kendall is about to meet her match: a sexy, determined, discerning man who'll see beyond her sultry facade to the frightened woman beneath. Hawke Madison will slowly strip away her defenses, and by the time she awakens to the danger, it will be much too late to run. This is a passionate story filled with all the humor and tenderness that Kay Hooper's fans have come to expect—a story that explores the loneliness of heartbreak and the searing, transforming power of love.

1.0 out of 5 stars not up to her later standard 2 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Immature tosh from a writer who later produced books as good as "After Caroline". Don't make this your first Kay Hooper book, in fact don't even waste your money on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars On wings of magic. 3 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I found this an absolutely charming story. No back biting. Just a fun romance story with a lot of laughs. One of Kay Hoopers earlier romance's before she started her thrillers. I love all her books but some times just want to read a light hearted story with a happy ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable for People Who Don't Like Romances Too 5 Mar 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I don't read romance but since I am a Hooper fan I read this. This was a very relaxing book and not as boring as most romance novels. There were the cliches' like walking on beaches and candelight dinners but the two main characters are so darn witty I enjoyed the banter and couldn't wait for more. This is a book that's perfect for a one day read ( if you start early ). I guarantee if you're stressed out, reading On Wings of Magic will get you through the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars old fashioned 80s romance 15 Jan 2004
By S. Reed - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Obviously the person before me only ever read her new suspence books, which are also really good. If you have read any of her books written earlier in her carrer (80s) you would know that they are full of cliches and alpha males and are still wonderful. I loved this book and I have read it countless times. What I love about most of her books, but especially her older ones, are her alpha males. So if you are not into them you won't like them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Old-fashioned '80s style story! 17 Feb 2004
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
While I loved the romantic interludes I was put off by the incredible beauty ALWAYS wearing extremely scanty clothing and terrifically handsome alpha male (not that that is too bad) but it was too predictable. Still it was a good steamy romance story and entertaining to read for Kay Hooper fans. I loved reading Kay Hooper's stories when I first read "Haunting Rachel". Was not disappointed reading this story but found it dated. I liked this story better than the Shadow series, which had less romantic interest but still good suspense. If you like this story, I recommend reading: "Finding Laura", "After Caroline", "Amanda", and "Haunting Rachel". I recommend these books highly to all Kay Hooper fans! A MUST read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful light romance 14 Nov 2011
By JR Gardener - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kay Hooper writes romance on a light-hearted and whimsical note. Her characters may have deep issues that they are dealing with but the overall tone is uplifting.

On Wings of Magic has a heroine running from the things she has experienced while traveling the world with her father. She uses the classic helpless blonde stereotype to keep people at an emotional distance so she doesn't get hurt again. Hawke knows he wants Kendall for his own as soon as he sets eyes on her and immediately sets out to prove to her that her emotions are safe with him.

In classic Hooper style there is a cat to provide some comic relief, romance that lets you know what's happening without going into details and lots of fun conversation between the lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Read 6 Aug 2001
By cclear - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I got this book because it seemed to look interesting, and I was right. I couldn't put it down, and read it in one sitting! Kay Hooper is a great author, and as you go through the story, she lets you know things that you already suspected to be true. This was the first book of hers that I have read, but I'll be sure to read more of her books!
