I am a big fan of Chilean wines (to say the least) and this is the best guide there is (of the very few available). It's not glossy or full of pictures - it's a more academic style with line maps and b&w. It's very comprehensive and well written

An exceptional guide to Chilean wine 24 Mar 2009
By Tebes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you want an in-depth look at the world of wine in Chile, this is the volume to buy. Peter Richards provides a historical introduction to Chilean winemaking followed by chapters on viticulture, modern winemaking and grape varieties used in Chile. Then he takes the reader region by region through the main vineyards of the country, providing brief backgrounds on such famous bodegas as Concha Y Toro, Errazuriz, Santa Rita to the lesser known - Casa Marin, Amayna, Anakena, etc...

Easy to read, easy to peruse, another must for the wine lover's library. Peter Richards truly appreciates Chilean culture as much as wine with references to Pablo Neruda and Isabel Allende. This book is the most up-to-date and the most detailed on the market. Excellent.

For Wine Geeks and Professionals 11 Jun 2009
By Random Feature - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is not a book for the casual wine drinker, this is for the wine geek looking to learn Chilean wine inside and out. It is clear the author spent a great deal of time living in Chile and talking with wine producers, and it is impossible not to learn about Chile along the way. Descriptions of vineyards are vivid enough to picture in your mind while sipping tonight's bottle. Any wine related question is answered here: Which regions are oldest, which get the most rainfall, which have the best soils, which wines are good and which need work? Detailed but still casual in tone and easy to read, sometimes reading like a story as the author relates his visits, it makes me want to drink more Chilean wine.
valuable info for wine lovers 18 April 2012

A very impressive amount and diversity of information.
Very valuable for wine lovers interested in chilean wines.
I discovered, among other things, a kind of matrix (south-north and high-mid-low altitude) that allows a great combination of situations (temperature, humidity, rains, sun, etc) to produce different wines.
