Wine-Coloured Days is a hard-hitting detective thriller set in contemporary London. Intrigue, betrayal and violence bedevil the protagonist John Joseph O’Nion. What at first seems like a simple search for a missing girl turns into a life changing adventure where the highest price will be demanded. O’Nion will stop at nothing to achieve his goal – no quarter is asked or given. But is he willing to make the ultimate sacrifice?
Richard was born at a very early age. Raised in a circus family, he dreamt of running away to become an accountant. However, after eleven long years at school, where his list of achievements failed to include any academic success, he decided to join the British Army. A glittering military career came to an abrupt end one night after he inadvertently machine-gunned the band school. So, by mutual consensus, he and the Army took their leave of one another. Perhaps still searching for camaraderie, Richard joined a motorcycle gang. Here he revelled in the three B's - bikes, booze and birds. On one memorable night, he successfully combined all three simultaneously. It was a night that ended with a big bang, both literally and metaphorically. A period of travel and introspection followed. One night, lying sleepless in the Australian Outback, an idea came to him. What you read here grew from the seed that was that idea.
Richard's first novel "Wine-Coloured Days" is available on Amazon Kindle; as is a book of short stories entitled "filleting anchovies." His second novel "Twice Upon a Time" is circulating amongst various literary agents. He is also working on two new projects, the first is 90 pages underway, the second is only a title and the germ of an idea.
