I love this book. It is smart, convincing, direct, brilliantly simple and beautifully illustrated. It is also peppered with personal anecdotes and brutally funny. I wonder how many of the "plausible idiots" who are the inspiration for rule 20 will recognise themselves. There are 28 rules. A sign of the book's strength is the heated debate that follows any time I ask a group "which is your favourite rule?".

I keep buying more copies: I have given it to fellow CEOs as thank you presents. I have given it to a senior manager I am mentoring and to senior teams I am training.

Buy this book if you want to succeed in business. Even if you are not that interested in succeeding but wonder what it takes to succeed, buy it, enjoy the read and be pleasantly surprised to discover that you can work sensible hours, treat people well and still make a healthy profit if you follow the Wine Bar Theory.

This is packed full of the best business theory. Of the 28 rules, you could read a book on each. However, this concise and wonderfully elegant book brilliantly introduces the reader to the common mistakes and fallacies that are all too present within business and outside of it. It can be read in hours but after 25 years in business it reminded me of important lessons I knew but had neglected. This should be read by anyone who, like me, likes simple and clear rational rather than a lot of boring jargon.

Wine Bar Theory is brief, humorous and well informed. It provides a superb list for health-checking any business. If a business is not following all of the 28 rules, then it better have a very good reason. I have been a board director for several years and reckon this to be one of best reference books I have read. I recommend that everyone in business should read Wine Bar Theory and then carry it with them at all times. Well done Mr. Gilbertson!

I just delivered a copy of Wine Bar Theory to each of my 20 staff.

I enjoyed it the first time, more so the second, and it contains, in a very easy to read and absorb style, many of my own sentiments of how to run a business without most of the stuff that bogs down most businesses.

Congratulations on creating such a refreshingly simple and easy to absorb book containing so many powerful messages.

I love this book because he helps to simplify an increasingly complex, info overloaded world. A very practical guide it cuts through all the b*llocks and jargon. The overriding feeling I get when I pick it up is of clarity. The layout and design is also great so it really works as a handbook, something to have on your desk/ bedside table for re-reading and occasional browsing.
