5.0 out of 5 stars Delight for the eyes as well as the palate 25 Aug 2009
This is a superb book, both as a read and as a reference. The information on all aspects of New Zealand wine is comprehensive and fascinating, and the photographs by John McDermott are a total delight.
Having enjoyed drinking New Zealand wines whilst visiting there, I bought the book to find out more about both the wines and the winemakers - after all, New Zealand wines are not cheap in the UK, and I was keen to understand what I was getting. All my requirements in that respect were comprehensively met, with excellent maps, extensive information on all the wineries, and an interesting insight into wine making in New Zealand, from its origins to the present day. What I hadn't expected was the way both the writing and the photographs captured my attention and reminded me again what a wonderful country New Zealand is.
If you're interested in wine, this book will make you keen to experience New Zealand wines, and if you've never been there, I guarantee it will make you want to visit. Just one health warning though - the problem for me is that I now want to go and live in New Zealand, grow grapes, make wine and then drink it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and what a bargain! 9 Oct 2010
Recently went to New Zealand to see my brother. He had the first edition of this book and it was an interesting read. Went to buy it in NZ and it cost $NZ140 which was around 70. Jumped on Amazon and it was [...], bargain! A great read if your interested in New Zealand wine, gives you section for each of the wineries found in NZ both North and South Islands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book 26 May 2010
I got this as a gift for my mother. It is a lovely reference book with great pictures. It was actually cheaper and easier to order it off Amazon UK than from New Zealand. I got this in conjuction with Micheal Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wine, which is a nice practical compliment to this reference item.
