Eric burdon must be the most underated artist of the sixties. Great sound effects together with a harsher lyrical world view than his contempories make a satifying listen whatever the mood. Songs vary frm out and outand out trippy ( "winds of change" + "poem by the sea") to adventurous covers ( "Paint it black" - a cover that actually builds on and I think improves on the original ) to gritty psch blues ( like "its all meat" and "man-woman"). The album even has space for the the classic "San Franscico Nights" , for me the most evocative of all hymns to the counterculture of the sixties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Psyche-pop-rock great 5 Feb 2009
By F.H
Format:Audio CD
One of the greatest album of that period.
Think nobody noticed it...
San Franciscan nights was heard a bit on the radio.
But unfortunally no other one was.
A great group, great singing and great lyrics.
A must for anyone who loved the 60'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eric Burdon is great! 7 Aug 2013

The Animals is together with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks the best British group of the 1960's and maybe of all time. Eric Burdon is one of the best blues and soul singers ever. I listened to him in Pori, Finland some weeks ago, and I think he is still very good. "Winds Of Change" with Eric Burdon & The Animals is a psychedelic album and very different from the blues and soul albums with The Animals. Still, this album is also very good and especially songs like the lovely hit single "San Franciscan Nights", the romantic "Anything" (a real gem), the appealing "Good Times", The Rolling Stones cover "Paint It Black", and the poetic "Winds Of Change" and "Poem By The Sea" are brilliant. I recommend this CD to those who were youngsters in the late 60's!
