5.0 out of 5 stars Windows 7 and Office 2010 in one book 18 Jun 2011

Nice touch, this. You can either read at your leisure, or view the vids that come with the book. I was amazed at the low price for these items. This manual and the DVD's dont give in-depth instructions but they do offer a good, basic overview of how Win7 and Office 2010 work. If you want better manuals, you'll have to search them out. I always did like the Dummies books. I bought this item after changing from Vista to Win7. After having a quick read through the book, I was able to use everything with ease. I more appreciate the Office 2010 manual as Win7 is very like Vista anyway.

I am moving from XP to Windows 7 and from Office 2000 to 2010. I felt that the differences between that which I have and the new programs waranted a book to help me familiarise myself with the new features and user interface.

This book is so basic that it has been of little use. The DVDs are equally simplistic. If you have never used Windows or Office before then this book may have some merit but if you have, look elsewhere.

I found the DVD's very clear and instructive. I liked the A5 format of the book to handy fitting into notebook pouch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Windows 7 and Office 2010 for Dummies 16 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
I ordered this package pre-publication, which was delayed a few times. What terrific value. I thought that I would be getting two paperbacks for less than the price of one. What a Dummie! What you actually get is one small 'portable edition' paperback covering both subjects, together with two DVDs, one for Windows 7 and one for Office 2010. I'm not sure how the content of the portable edition compares with the combined content of the two normal publications, but if you want a handbook on both topics you are probably better served by getting the two separate Dummie publications.
Now that we are post-publication, the description includes a picture of the package. If you look carefully at this you may be able to read 'Special Book + 2DVD Package'. This should reduce the chance of error. That said, the package is good value and should serve my purpose, so I'll keep it.

I was impressed when I saw the price and product description on the web site and am ver satisfied with the scope of input offered through the combination of book and DVDs. I have already suggested to friend that he would benefit from purchase of this package.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Title Is Right 25 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
This is truly for dummies i.e. those of us gullible enough to buy it! What a con - very little Windows 7 or Office 2010 specific information just a re-hash of previous books on earlier versions. I feel like I have been ripped off. As for the "videos" of a talking head and some feeble Powerpoint stuff covering things that anyone who has used a computer in the last decade wuld ammost certainly know. I am not a computer whizz, far from it, but this does not do what it says on the tin. Talk about cashing in!

4.0 out of 5 stars Windows 7 for Dummies 1 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I am what is known as a silver surfer and although I have used Windows products for a while, I did find this book and cd very informative and useful. It is one of those books that you like to keep close to refer to when all else fails. I am still ploughing my way through the various shortcuts and hopefully will soon be able to understand the jargon that my grandchildren throw at me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dummies and DVDs for Office 2010
I was forced to upgrade to Office 2010 to make claims via the Government Gateway. Office 2010 is quite different from Office 2003. Without the book I would be floundering.
