This book will be really appreciated by anyone with an interest in buildings and architecture. The various contributors have been selected for their expertise in their chosen fields, and together present a solid reference work about the things we all see every day, but usually take for granted, that is our windows.
The history of the window, its fittings and the development of glass are all covered in depth, as well as the technical issues such as surveying and the government's policy towards listed buildings.
People working in the building trade will appreciate having the sort of book you can dip into to find answers when you need help with something out of the ordinary. I found the photographs illustrating the section on preservation and repair particularly useful.
Full of advice and guidelines, this book will benefit the conservation and restoration of historic buildings and domestic homes alike.
