5.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8 4 Dec 2012

Andy Rathbone hits the target again with this book and DVD combination. Everything in the book is laid out and progressed in an eminently readable way. The DVD is comprehensive and can be viewed in small bites. One minor niggle is the annoying [to me] audio 'marker'at the beginning or end of each segment. However, this can be minimised with judicious use of the remote volume on/off button.
I am still in the process of reading and viewing the book and the DVD before I get around to installing Windows 8 in my desktop pc. I am always rather reluctant to change to a new operating system, but I feel confident that this book and DVD will make the process easier.
Very good value - a terrific bargain.

3.0 out of 5 stars Windows 8 Dummy 27 Dec 2012
By A.J.
Format:Paperback
I was given this book and DVD as a Christmas present. Getting on well with the book, so decided to load the DVD into my PC and have a look at that as well. Guess what? It won't play in my drive. Why? Because Microsoft has discontinued support for DVD's with W8.
Rather ironic when the DVD says "shows you step by step how to use every new feature of Windows 8" But only if you play it on a PC running Windows 7 ??

The book is ideal for anyone who is used to using microsoft windows 7. It explains in very good english how to use the new windows 8 etc.

Although the title is windows 8 for dummies you don't need to be a dummy to use it.

Highly recommended for anyone thinking of uopgrading to windows 8.
