Windows 95 is obviously the most popular platform, so what are you still doing in DOS? Windows 95 Programming Nuts & Bolts is a great book which will teach anyone with a very good grasp on the C language to learn how to write a fully functional Windows 95 Program with the Windows API (it explains what that is in the books), from pop-up menus to buttons and toolbars, this book has everything you need, in a size which you can read in a week or less.

It will teach you just that, the nuts & bolts. It does not go into any advanced topics (at all), and will leave you needing to buy another book to create anything useful.
