5.0 out of 5 stars amazing!, 25 May 2009

I read this on the whim the other day, trying to remember what I could of it from my childhood. I had forgotten just how witty and clever Graham is, and I loved the way the various animals were personified so perfectly into humans. This book is a true classic and is one you can read again and again and never get tired of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality edition of a much loved classic!, 30 April 2009
The Wind in the Willows is a much-loved children's classic: it revolves around the adventure of four key animal characters. The story is magical but this is a review primarily of the edition and not the story itself.

There are 224 pages in this edition (not 192 as Amazon states). It's a well-presented hardback book beautifully illustrated. The original story was illustrated by E.H.Shepard and although Robert Ingpen's illustrations here are quite different in style (gloomier and more atmospheric), they do justice to the story and have a similar kind of charm about them.

All in all, this has to be one of my favourite editions of the book - it looks great as a gift to any child (or adult for that matter!) The pages are really thick and the whole book is well-presented - you just know you're in for a treat when you open the book. Excellent!

Fantastic book, humorous, with a language that takes you into a long lost, yet recent world . Fantastic illustration, quality paper at a very modest price.
