    I totally agree with Eyes Open - these lanterns are very poor. Yes, the light is bright if switched on when winding them up but dims almost instantly. I took two camping and was constantly winding them up but the light they generated was really only enough to see the lantern - not anything else! Even when used in a tent they were not good enough to see anything at all clearly. You would be better off buying rechargeable batteries if you want to be environmentally friendly - just don't buy these lanterns.

    These are really really poor.
    Even after fully charging they are really dim, and not good for lighting up anything.
    Better to get a proper battery powered lantern, or use a candle or torch

    Not surprised to see the other reviews here. You have to wind it up for ages and it shines brightly for a minute or two then a very dim glow for a while. Took it on a camping trip it total darkness and it was of some use to about 3 foot but had to wind every 20 mins or so and on the sixth wind something went in the handle and it's now broken. Avoid. Not even worth the £8 I paid from Morrisons.
