""After a thorough study of the program's use by a variety of student groups, at varying age and competence levels, it is difficult to find fault with the program. It provides much of the required information that an GCSE, AS/A2, AVCE, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or HNC level student - in a variety of disciplines - may need in their study, or research, of Economics and Economic theory. Manufacturer's Description
The WinEcon School Edition delivers a fully interactive and user-friendly learning package to complement the school syllabus. The software is based on the award winning WinEcon Introductory Economics networked teaching software used extensively in leading universities, colleges and schools. The WinEcon School Edition offers hours of highly graphical tutorial material and has been approved by the government's Department for Education and Skills as a certified Curriculum Online product. It includes extensive relevant theory, interactive exercises, self-assessment questions and quizzes, economic databases and an economic glossary. The software is tailor made to provide material within the syllabus for more in-depth study of particular topics. The interactive approach lets students draw diagrams one step at a time and investigate the impact of the changes made thus helping them to understand the analysis.
Intensively developed at a cost of £1m under the government funded Teaching and Learning Technology Programme and updated by experienced teachers of economics, the WinEcon software gives complete control of the pace and style of learning in a fully-supported environment that demands no prior knowledge of computing or economics.
The WinEcon School Edition can be used as a stand alone learning package or to complement the networked version which your school or college may be using. The WinEcon School Edition can be used in conjunction with the networked version to allow the student to access their teacher's Web links to WinEcon if working away from the school or college's local area network (LAN). The student can then work on their own machine and without the need to work on-line. This is a major benefit to students working at home on assignments, homework or revision.
