Outrageous, quite a bit vulgar, clever and very funny.,

This review is from: Wilt on High (Hardcover)
This book has been my first contact with Sharpe. Not my last. I find "Wilt on High" extremely funny, well written, cleverly put together, with just a dash (maybe more than a dash) of healthy vulgarity and it shows also that Mr Sharpe has an incredibly piercing eye to see, analyze and render the foibles of a great variety of human specimens such as feminists, police inspectors, teachers, American military men, quacks, overintelligent brats, etc. Highly recommended.

Classic Wilt,

This review is from: Wilt On High (Paperback)
The third novel of four in the Wilt series starts with a drug problem at Fenland College. As ever Henry Wilt's incredible talent for landing himself in trouble with his superiors, his wife, the Police and even the American armed forces leads him once again into troubled waters. A splendid book, hilarious in parts, the character of Flint has been further developed, and his desire to arrest Henry Wilt is as strong as ever. A great read from the master of classic farce. If you enjoyed the Wilt Alternative, you will love this one too, would be a great film script.

Not his best,
By Mrs. K. A. Wheatley "katywheatley" (Leicester, UK) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Wilt On High (Paperback)
Sharpe's excoriating wit and vulgar humour is still very much to the fore in this latest episode of Wilt's life. Still at the tech and even more weary of teaching Lord of the Flies to Cakes 3, Wilt becomes embroiled with women's rights, heroin addicts, and shenanigins at the local US airbase. Usually I find myself laughing out loud at Sharpe's books, but this only raised a wry smile. Not my favourite, I felt it was very much exploiting ideas which had already been adequately explored in the previous Wilt volumes. Nevertheless, amusing and always worth a read. Whatever happens I finish reading Sharpe with a smile on my face.
