Very interesting book - with copy-photographs of old Cheshire. This book inspired me to refer to the recent T.V. production of The Mill, and I was fascinated to learn that the history of Quarry Bank Mill (now a National Trust property) ties-in perfectly with some of the scenes in the production. Some of the photograph-plates showed the old, wooden beds that the mill-workers were forced to sleep in... they featured in the wonderfully-filmed/acted/cast production on television. (I'll buy the dvd - when the price is reduced to a more affordable one).
I shall treasure the book because it reminds me of some of the places I visited when I lived in Manchester...I was born there! This is a sincere and honest review.

My life has revolved around all content from 1938 and Ringways opening through to being a member of Royal Auxiliary Air Force 613 Sqdn.prior to R.A.F. service (navigator), living married life in Alderley Edge and raising a family here and eventually serving as a Customs Officer at the newly named Manchester Airport for 12 and a half years to retirement in 1995. Watching the airport grow and become a large civic establishment to include a training unit for S.O.E. agents and providing many aspects of civilian and serving personnel over many years.

Bought a book similar to this years ago, having been brought up in Wilmslow all my life, I have seen so many changes, when growing up, if were going shopping, we said just going down to the villiage. Love history, love this book
