Book Description

WILLIAM WESTERLEIGH believes that he is all alone in the world - until he receives a letter from his late grandfather, Charles, urging him to discover the Secret of Time.

With self-absorbed parents at home who barely notice him, and bullies at school who notice him far too much, William - or Billy as he likes to be called - leaves London to attend St Bartholomew's School, where he follows clues to find the Secret Time Tunnel.

He has never met a Gobswobble, seen a Litagon or Litamite whizz past his eyes, or ever travelled through time. His grandfather's destiny however, is to go into the future and save the world from Abaddon, an evil dictator ... and this must become William Westerleigh's destiny too.

More About the Author

Teagan Ridgeway was born in England and grew up in Sussex, near the coast. She attended Westerleigh School in St Leonards-On-Sea, memories of which fired her imagination in later years to write the William Westerleigh series.

A voracious reader from an early age, she loved stories such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Peter Pan, Bridge to Terabithia and Alice in Wonderland. She also loved to watch any films connected to Greek Mythology, such as Jason and the Argonauts and films about the future such as Logan's Run.

Teagan worked in schools for twelve years, teaching English to International pupils from all over the world. She was Head of an International College and a Marketing Director, travelling to places such as Hong Kong and China. She also holds a Masters in Educational Leadership and Management.

Teagan now writes full-time and loves creating new characters. Her love of science fiction & fantasy has inspired the William Westerleigh time-travelling adventures which will encourage readers to gain confidence and believe in themselves.

William is a thoroughly engaging character and keeps the reader gripped from first page to last. This is a great book for all the children (and adults!) who loved Harry Potter and want to continue to read exciting stories. Can't wait for the next instalment in William's adventures!

5.0 out of 5 stars A captivating book. 11 Dec. 2012
By maria
Format:Paperback
I read the book in one session on the train. I was captivated and felt the characters spoke to me. They came alive as I was turning the pages. The book is written in a very honest and direct way and it is possible for children to feel that they are part of the story. They can recognize their own hopes and fears and identify with the characters strongly.

I shall certainly be introducing this book to the pupils I teach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended. 13 Aug. 2014
By Robert
Format:Paperback
As a former pupil of Westerleigh School, I was very curious to read this book to see if I could draw any parallels. Any Westerleigh alumni will certainly recognise the atrocious food, but sadly I never met the Gobswobbles!

Apart from that, I wasn't sure what to expect - but I was pleasantly surprised. The story is fast paced, and well written. Highly recommended.
