Well I've pre-ordered this Collector's Edition now but I have my doubts. I have it set to FIrst Class delivery which 'guarantees' I will have this product on release day, September 25th.

But when I purchased the Starcraft 2 Collector's Edition two years ago, it arrived two days AFTER the release date because it was dispatched by courier due to its bulk and I live in Northern Ireland.

Now, an RTS being late is ok but I really want this MMO title on launch day. So does anyone know (from previous experience with other collector's editions hopefully) IF they'll dispatch this product early to ensure I have it by launch day?

Cheers

Pre-orders are sent for next day delivery if I recall correctly

Not if it snows, remember the cataclysm "release day" deliveries that sat in the soon to be dispatched zone for several days.

Positive thinking M. Gardener, positive thinking. It'll be late September, so hopefully no snow.

I would like to hope so. It is September and plus here we usually get weather akin to summer in that month..so all should go well!

True but the Starcraft 2 collectors edition I bought took two days arrive, as it was sent by courier. And that was during the summer two years ago.

generally, Amazon dispatches preorders the day before release, so they arrive on release day. I've preordered my copy here but will preorder at gamestop once they allow it, as for Diablo they dispatched my CE days in advance and I got it 2 days before Diablo launch.

I pre-ordered Cata CE 2 months before release, paid for the first class postage to receive it on release date, but it was about a WEEK late - In that time, I'd ordered it from Play .com and it arrived next-day delivery (no extra postage charge), so I'll not be buying anything time-sensitive from Amazon again! I still have the totally unopened Cata CE in the amazon box it arrived in as I was so p*ssed off I just set it aside - then with Xmas and NY, the return date sneaked past...

They only send it out the day before. Cataclysm was sent from Jersey and took several days to arrive. Then there was the Yodel fiasco on other release day titles. If you must positively have it on day 1, I'd get it direct from Blizzard, at this time, it's cheaper too!

If you're that worried, buy the digital version from Blizzard. There should be no download as (unless they've changed it) all clients versions are the same. I would personally relax, and start playing a few days or even weeks after release so you're not competing with every other person on your server for those 10 boars tusks. Let everyone else deal with the lag, the inflated auction house, the queues etc.

If you're an avid collector, then you really wont mind waiting a couple of days for it to arrive. Personally, I haven't had an issue with Amazon delivery. They are far more reliable than Game and Play.

Exactly, mine was stuck in the depot 10 miles from me for 3 days (and i had taken the week off to play it!) the courier refused me to pick it up as it was "on the truck" but they couldnt get out due to the snow.

As much as I try to believe Amazon and want this boxed set to add to my collection (lich king collectors was also 2 days late) not this time im afraid, getting the digital version this time.

AJK the chance of it snowing in september are extremely low, so i'm hoping there will minimal disruptions

A. J. Carter says:
It's hardly Amazon's (or the courier's fault for that matter) fault that it snowed, though :P

To be fair, Amazon couldnt help what happened with the weather. They sent the games out of time. It was the couriers that struggled to get the parcels through on time. The chances of a blizzard in September is pretty unlikely.

Buying this should really give access to pre-downloading from Blizzard, just incase it takes a couple of days to arrive, that way, we can play when the servers go live, and also get all this neat stuff!

For existing wow players I really dont understand why you dont just get the digital download and be done with it. If you want access asap then you arent going to get the midnight access any other way, and you arent that fussed...well than all this isnt an issue. I'm ready, downloaded, and will be questing from the start through the night and into the morning. If you're half way serious about the game you want to be 90 asap to start your pve or pvp gearing to be at the forefront of the competition, or the challenge heroics, or pet battles, or AH....its the same as most things, the 'first mover advantage'.

I don't expect to get it in time for the midnight launch, I used to care about it, this time I am just taking as it comes, probably on Tuesday and by then many of the real 1st will have been won. I did get realm 1st fishing back when it was introduced but honestly, that was 6 hours standing in Orgrimmar casting over and over, an I really, really am not going to miss that this time around ;-) However saying all that, why oh why don't Blizzard allow you to get the box a week before hand, clearly because they want the midnight launch party for the press etc but still you would like to hope they could at least offer what SWTOR did and email the key in advance from the retailers, that worked well as you didn't then fuss if your box was late... oh and a wee plug for my son WowMegaBoy on Youtube, boy loves his World of Warcraft Mega Bloks ;-)

Posted on 19 Sep 2012 23:12:15 BDT
It is silly they dont ship ahead of time, we can not play it before launch anyhow, and they allready gave the digital deluxe buyers their in game goodies and stuff, it's daft

Judging by the email i just revieved; saying they cannot post this item untill release date. It does not look like it will arrive untill atleast wednesday... Dont see the point of the "on day of release" postage i payed for then really.

When I ordered Cataclysm, it arrived on Launch Day - then again, we weren't too badly affected by the snow.

So, unless a massive cold front from Russia comes over within the next 48 hours, which is not very likely at the end of September, I am not worried ;)

G. Lake says:
You will not be able to received this game the date before the servers go up. You will get this specifically on the 25th so this means that you cannot get access the midnight launch. The only way you can access it is by the digital upgrade.

BeRo says:
I don't know why they couldn't have sent these out to arrive on Monday, since the servers open at 11pm on Monday evening. NOBODY buying it on Amazon will be able to play the game for at least 8 hours after opening.

Gotta take into account random shipping issues that can happen with any order. And tbh if people really wanted to be able to log in as soon as it goes live you could have easily preorder from local shop that sells it and got it at midnight etc.
I remember on here for cata and people going insane over it.. it seems like common sense that if you want to be able to log on right away and play that you would not order the physical edition online.
