Book Description

What if a child, asked to go the f**k to sleep by its father, could respond in adult language? I Will NOT Go the F**k to Sleep, which was a No.2 humor bestseller for 6 weeks, is an anytime book for adults who refuse to grow up or to go to sleep in this unreal and wacky world of jet-setting yogis, retired nukes, and presidents named Bush. Profane, compassionate, wickedly funny at times, it captures a world and a humor that is fresh, subversive, and diaper-wettingly funny.

This wide-ranging anthology of humor touches on daddies and kids, nukes and wackos, politicians and promises, and cats and Indian fathers. If you like occasionally silly, occasionally witty nonconformist humor, and are non-pc, you will probably love this book.

You probably should not read it to your children under 15; but don’t be surprised if they decide to read it to you.

By the father of 3 children, 10 books, and 1 kicking and screaming Inner Child that refuses to grow up or to go to sleep.

"Hysterical and informative. For the rebel in you. Great style and humor"--Linda J. Lundy, 5-star review

You will love it if you have a streak of rebelliousness within you, if you are anti-establishment and someone who is sensitized to today's world order. Its an excellent collection of essays on varied topics ranging from political satire, familial surroundings, parenting etc. all peppered with an exceptional sense of humour that shall make you laugh again and again....All in all, a very good read !!

5.0 out of 5 stars A writing dynamo 8 Aug. 2011

I was so impressed with Richard's satire, feisty spirit, and sense of humor that I bought three more of his books before I was half way into this one. "I Will Not Go the F**k to Sleep" is a generous potpourie of essays from the playful title story, to satirical observations on cultural and political affairs of both India and the West, particularly the US and Britain. Besides being unique as a writer, Richard is unique in being a member of an Indian minority. He was raised a Catholic and as a child resided at a Catholic boarding school amidst nuns and priests. Although it was not an orphanage per se, it was reminiscent to me of my own background in an orphanage with nuns. The chapter "Prometheus Unzipped, From the Revised Kama Sutra" really resonated in me. It never occurred to me that a boy might, in a few cases, be traumatized by his first erection; just as some adolescent girls are traumatized by their first menstral period because they had not been informed ahead of time that these events would take place. I foresee Richard Crasta leaving an indelible imprint on English literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sociological humor 15 Nov. 2011

I must admit that I bought this book looking for a good laugh. I ended up with more than a few.
Nevertheless, as with most books dealing with socio-political-religious and so on issues ,I found that this is not a work that can be easily understood by the average reader. A pretty good knowledge of --in this case-- Indian and US affairs and worldwide issues in common with other countries is needed to understand the humor.
The humor is definitely irreverent but well written.
I look forward to reading more by Mr. Crasta.
4.0 out of 5 stars more than one story 31 May 2013

What this non-sleeping child says to its father is hilarious! The other stories vary in entertainment value, some great some less so. Totally worth the money!
