I was watching Tv and was sad about the tsunami that hit japan a few days ago, and wonder will this affect japanese electronic products and the prices they are sold at, i know a lot of japanese companies have moved their manufacturing to the china but some of the parts still come from japan.

Will electrical goods go up in price.

Generally electronic products once leaving the designers hands and into production, are then cheap to manufacture. I think pricing has always been set at what people are prepared to pay and what the retailer has to pay the wholesaler and so on down the line. But there must be a considerable margin below what you might pay for an ipad for instance. So soon as buyers become scarce you should see the price drop. I believe it would have a long way to go. We have seen with the ipod and ipad how the market has been squeezed tighter and tighter with slight better versions as the months go buy. You can bet your bottom dollar that all these 'improvements' were planned before the first i pod went on sale. Hence if you open up a first addition you will see reserved space for cameras and bluetooth etc. ipod even start with a rubbish camera so you know an improvement will be in the offing. They know what they are doing with us addicts who cannot resist buying new technology even if it is marginally better. They know many will spend until there is none left. So I think prices will fall as the demand falls, Believe you me the manufacturers can continue to produce goods and still make an handsome profit all the way down until you or I have nothing to feed our family or ourselves for that matter. Am I right or am I wrong?
