Will Alsop Book 1- ......- is so good, so personal, ......... --RA Magazine

Product Description

Will Alsop is one of the most exciting British architects working today, responsible for such striking, often colourful, buildings as Le Grand Bleu in Marseille, the Passenger Ferry Terminal in Hamburg and, more recently, North Greenwich Station on the new Jubilee Line Extension in London. In 2000 he was one of the four architects chosen to represent Britain at the prestigious Venice Biennale. This, the first of two volumes on his work, will examine not only his archictecture, but also his distinctive creative process. His early training and teaching in art have profoundly marked his approach to architecture. Created in close co-operation with Will Alsop, the book is profusely illustrated with sketches, paintings, plans and photographs and covers Alsop's earliest training up to his built projects of the 1980s. Kenneth Powell's text analyses the work and ideas, as well as providing a readable biographical background.
