Now in its 47th year, the most innovative and imaginative photographic images are judged and selected by a panel of experts. The chosen images form an exhibition at the Natural History Museum and elsewhere in the UK every year from the end of October. The competition is owned by two UK institutions that pride themselves on revealing and championing the diversity of life on Earth: the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine.

I had the 2011 edition of this diary, and loved it so much I decided to get the 2012 one this year. The photos are stunning, the diary itself is nice and compact, and considering the size, there is plenty of space allocated for you to write in your plans for each day. The little ribbon-pagemark is a thoughtful touch, too. Gorgeous diary, fantastic price.

This is a beautiful diary, but unfortunately it's just too small for my needs. I bought it via Amazon without seeing the product 'in the flesh', so to speak. As a freelance designer I use my diary to keep a log of how many hours I spend on each job I am working on, and with all the marvellous pictures, there just isn't enough room. This is just a personal need/preference, and I'm sure the diary would have ample space for birthdays and social engagements if that was all your diary were used for, which frankly most people's probably are. But space aside, it is a very nice, beautifully produced diary. Hardback bound with a bookmark ribbon it has everything you'd want from a diary. I would order one again but only if it came in a larger format to suit my purpose.

I really love this diary, fascinating and beautiful photos, one per week, one week per double page spread. Just the right size to fit in my handbag and being hardbacked is sturdy enough to withstand a years worth of knocks.

Surely there can be no other pocket diary with such fantastic photos, (all be it a bit small - half page), for this amazing price. Even if you don't use a diary I would recommend buying it just to keep and enjoy.
