About the Author
Dr E. Charles Nelson F.L.S. was senior research botanist and horticultural taxonomist for twenty years at the National Botanic Gardens, in Dublin. His work on Irish plants and gardens has been widely published in over 150 historical and scientific papers, as well as the many books he has written or co-written. A recognised authority on Irish Botany he has also presented, or contributed to, radio and television programmes. He now lives in Norfolk.
