TASTE OF HONEY by Delilah Devlin
1880, West Texas - Honey Cafferty makes her way in this world by selling potions and elixirs from her traveling wagon. She's a bit apprehensive about the newest potion her friend Senora Garza has concocted for her to sell - a male performance enhancer. She's positive she'll be run out of town if the good people become aware of her bawdy product. Garza's suggestion - tell the women what she has, they'll buy!
Sheriff Joe Tanner has heard multiple complaints and discontent from the unmarried men about town since Honey's arrival. It's a nice quiet peaceful town and all of a sudden the normally placid pace has changed. Married couples are starting the day later and single women are in hot pursuit of the town bachelors. It's up to Joe to restore peace to his town but how can he possibly resist the allure of Honey?
Honey's potions aren't posing any threat to Joe's town but just her presence has his libido all off kilter. The only hope to restore life to its normal placid existence is to tell her that it's time she hitched up her wagon and moved onto the next town. Honey's hopes to winter in One Mule are dashed - or are they? Not if the good women of the town have anything to say about it.
Delilah Devlin will have readers laughing out loud at the antics of the town's womenfolk in TASTE OF HONEY. This story is full of characters I found admirable and situations that had me anxiously flipping pages to find out what would happen next and if Honey would truly be run out of town.
QUEEN OF HEARTS by Layla Chase
1880, Mississippi Delta - Gambler Lissa Tate takes great pride in her skills at the poker table and can bluff with the best of them. Her skill doesn't end there. She can also charm any potentially hostile players and walk away with their money without them taking too much offense. When she sees a handsome stranger in the saloon crowd she decides to see if she can entice him to a private game in her room.
Roarke Sheridan has recently become the proud owner of a riverboat which he won during a game of cards. As a gambling man, he finds Lissa's skills at the table intriguing to the say the least, but when she offers to extend their game privately, well he's not about to resist the temptation.
Roarke's visit to the saloon is a much needed break from the demands of being the owner and captain of the QUEEN OF HEARTS riverboat. Like every other man in the room, he's drawn to Lissa and the game. Lissa is a smart player and quits once it becomes apparent that her luck has changed for the worst. She has a previous business commitment starting tomorrow, but tonight she wants to play and Roarke is just too desirable to resist. What will happen when her commitment and Roarke's ownership of a riverboat collide?
Layla Chase presents readers with a thrilling storyline in her story QUEEN OF HEARTS. Lissa and Roarke are both accomplished gamblers who love the thrill of the game. Lissa not only finds love with Roarke but she learns a harsh lesson about gambling which she'd seldom thought about - especially since she's normally the one winning the games.
TOUCH OF MAGIC by Myla Jackson
1872, Abilene, Kansas - Trace Adams has just spent months driving a herd of cattle from Amarillo. At the onset of the cattle drive he'd promised himself to have made up his mind about marrying Martha but he still hasn't reached a decision.
Catarina Novak is facing some tough decisions of her own. Her mentor, Marco Mancini, has passed away due to pneumonia and she'll have to perform their magic act for the first time by herself. She's trying to earn enough to pay the hotel bill and get her assistant, Nora Jane, and herself to Chicago. A spectacular entrance to town would assure them a decent size audience for the show.
To say the Amazing Catarina's entrance into Abeline is nothing short of spectacular would be an understatement. The horse she is riding charges through town until Trace steps in front of it and refused to move. Then Catarina jumps off the horse and sweeps her cape dramatically which spooks the horse who then bolts with Trace still hanging on. Later at the magic show, Trace accuses her of being a fraud. Her response - to put him into a trance and make him howl like a coyote for the audience. It's her other suggestion that brings him to her bed for one night only - but will that be enough?
Myla Jackson brings all the joy and wonder we experienced with magic shows into this fun filled storyline. Catarina and Trace get off to a rocky start but they're soon in a heated embrace which neither of them regrets (even if the details are a bit hazy for Trace). I loved reading each page of this story and wondered if or when Catarina and Trace were going to be honest with each other about him coming to her room to "pleasure her."
WILD, WILD WOMEN OF THE WEST is destined to find it's way to many keeper shelves. Unlike most western stories where the women are waiting for their Prince Charmings and protect their virtue at all costs, these women go after what they want and make no apologies for doing so. Each story is vastly different and brilliantly depicts exciting aspects of the old west with women in unusual occupations. If you enjoy reading about the old west, strong women and hot steamy love scenes then this book is for you. Beautifully written ladies!
