5.0 out of 5 stars White Punks Not Dopes 15 Aug 2005
Format:DVD
This is by far the best music DVD I have bought this year.Fee Waybill is on top form here as are the rest of the band especially Prairie Prince. The man is a legend! Thank God somebody decided to record one of these shows. The quality is superb. Picture quality is fantastic and the sound is 5.1 and stereo! You get sound check footage backstage bits and an interview with Fee. The concert alone is over 2 hrs long no editing its the full show with tracks included that aren't on the CD.
If you are into The Tubes you got to have this one its what they do best.
I loved it.

3.0 out of 5 stars TUBES PLAY IT SAFE! 20 July 2006
By Mark53
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having seen the 1976 show and being annoyed at how much it was censored on the live album, i didn't expect to much from this and brought it on the strengh of the other reviews. Well they do play it safe and the stage antics are stripped right down (finacial concerns) but if you can get over the silly wild west theme and the unpredictable instrumental overture, this isn't that bad. Sure i miss the 1976 spectacle and long for a dvd of their early shows (a brief snippet in the tubes video). Fee is as per usual a great frontman. One gets the impression his costime change aren't that important to him. Roger Steen plays some great guitar throughout and Prairie-well brilliant!. Beki Bondage looks georgeous and sings her heart out on 'don't touch me there' showing what a great singer she has always been since she stopped being a punk in Vice Squad. The girls antics with Fee in 'Mondo bondage' are worth the price of admission alone. Pity these pretty femme fatales weren't around longer (lucky Fee!)So on the whole well worth getting. Good interviews as well!(oh one other thing they did do 'haloes' before i've got it on the 'rocknroll hospital' bootleg from 74.

It is truly unbelievable that I saw The Tubes 24 years ago at the Colston Hall, Bristol on The Completion Backward Tour. I thought they were brilliant then, and when I knew they were coming to the Carling Academy in Bristol, I quickly went to their website to check the current line-up. Yes, Fee Waybill was still on lead vocals!
Initially, I was a little apprehensive about booking a ticket as I feared that I'd be the only one there. But no, the place was packed...about 1500 people.
When they came on stage I was simply blown away. They really did sound better than they did all those years ago. And Fee's singing, to my ears, has improved no end. He always had a very good voice anyway, but his range just seems so much wider. He really does hit those top notes on "She's A Beauty" and "I Saw Her Standing there".
To me also, Prairie Prince is still THE best rock drummer I have ever heard. People are always ranting on about John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, but he comes nowhere near Prairie's ability. That double-bass pedal just goes right through me!!

This DVD, recorded at Shepherd's Bush Empire 4 days before I saw them, really captures the band at their best. Go and buy it right now. You WON'T be disappointed. Trust me.
The interview with Fee Waybill is very interesting and it shows what a lovely bloke he really is.
I was very lucky that I got to meet them all after the gig. They are all so very down to earth and kind.
