Product Description

All the episodes from series one and two of the dark BBC comedy, written by Simon Nye and starring Dawn French and Catherine Tate, set in the eccentric Cornish village of St Gweep. Mary Tregednack (French) runs the village shop and post office, while her partner Angela (Tate) suffers from a number of unusual phobias. When a London couple buy a holiday cottage in the village, the locals decide that enough is enough and try to force them out. Episodes from series one are: 'One Home Good, Two Homes Bad'; 'Fear of Bungee'; 'Swingers'; 'Tin, Tin, Tin'; 'A Problem Shared is a Problem Doubled'; and 'Un, Deu, Tri, Figo, Quiggly'. Episodes from series two are: 'The Exploding Car'; 'Magical Horses'; 'Angela Learns to Drive'; 'Cornish Flu'; 'Film Crew'; and 'Holly Loses Faith in Witchcraft'.

Product Description

United Kingdom released, PAL/Region 2.4 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital Stereo ), English ( Subtitles ), ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: 2-DVD Set, Anamorphic Widescreen, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: Dawn French casts off her 'Vicar Of Dibley' dog collar for some lurid rain-wearas she takes on a much talked about role as a lesbian in a close-knit coastal community. A quirky comedy set in the small, picturesque yet rather odd coastal village of St Gweep. Mary always says what she thinks and is not averse to stocking the shop she runs with stolen goods, while Angela's prim exterior masks an unhealthy obsession with some frilly frocks and strange phobias. And the village locals are every bit eccentric as the distinctively 'odd couple' in this charming and original series. ...Wild West - Complete Series - 2-DVD Set

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic show - hilarious ! 31 Mar 2009
Format:DVD
This is a very funny series - Catherine and Dawn are hilarious and work really well together. Nice to see Dawn in soemthing with a bit of an edge to it too. Pity it only ran for 2 seasons. The other characters are also very funny and gradually one becomes quite involved in this little insular world of Gweep.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it time to grow on you 2 Mar 2007
By Red Rob
Format:DVD
Okay, 'Wild West' isn't The Vicar Of Dibley' or 'The Catherine Tate Show'. It resembles neither show in any way, apart from it features the leads from both of those shows, but that's where the similarities end.

Wild West is quite a strange little series which really needs to be given time for it to get inside your head. It has a similar feel to the recent BBC1 series 'Jam & Jerusalem' (also starring Dawn French) which may be because it is also set in the West Country.

If you like quirky little comedies that don't signpost their punchlines then you might like 'Wild West'. Then again you might not. I certainly like it.

In summary, if you are a fan of dross like 'My Family' then avoid 'Wild West' like the plague.

5.0 out of 5 stars DAWN AND CATHERINE AT THEIR BEST! 18 Nov 2010
By Gillian
Format:DVD
I have just purchased this as a gift for my sister who missed it when it was on TV. It is a much loved favourite in our house, guaranteed to cheer us up every time. An excellent cast, mad characters and gorgeous scenery - we want to live in St. Gweep!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wild West
Not the best Dawn French series. Quirky, sometimes dark humor. Not as funny as I'd hoped. Still, different enough to be interesting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
Bit sad, great artists but the humor is quite over and under....Sadly.....As I think greatly of these two on other occasions.
