Jack Redman, estate agent to the Cheshire set. An unlikely hero, or someone to break all the rules?

Wild water is the story of forty-something estate agent, Jack, who is stressed out not only by work, bills and the approach of Christmas but by the feeling that he and his wife, Patsy are growing apart. His misgivings prove founded when he discovers Patsy is having an affair, and is pregnant.

At the same time as his marriage begins to collapse around him, he becomes reacquainted with his childhood sweetheart, Anna, whom he left for Patsy twenty-five years before. His feelings towards Anna reawaken, but will life and family conflicts conspire to keep them apart again?

Romance Reviews Magazine: "Jan Ruth ruthlessly puts her hero through the grinder and God only knows how he retains his sanity. I’m literally breathless from reading this novel in one go in order to know Jack’s fate. Wild Water is a damn good read."
Pan Macmillan Books: “It has a good combination of humour and poignancy. The characters are well portrayed and Jan delves shrewdly into their make-up, gradually allowing their traits to become evident and appreciated.”

This publication is written in British English. Spellings and grammatical conventions are conversant with the UK.

Also by Jan Ruth: Midnight Sky, White Horizon, The Long & The Short Of It.

About Jan Ruth
Jan Ruth lives in North Wales and her novels feature the rugged Welsh landscape and more often than not, her love of dogs and horses. Although she writes serious love stories with strong characterisation, she also captures the humour of modern everyday life and the endless complications of relationships.

4.0 out of 5 stars Page Turner 6 Jan 2013

I have read a couple of Jan's books now and have been captivated from start to finish. Wild Water draws you in immediately and you want to continue reading until you finish the book. As ordinary as her characters may seem at the beginning they really grow on you as they develop into something much more. Mills and Boon it is not, it is a realistic, and at times hugely romantic view of good solid characters and their everyday lives and intimate cares. Wild water is humorous, touching and exciting. Her descriptions of North Wales are captivating and I find I can very easily visualize the scenes she writes about as they take me back to my earlier life spent in North Wales. A great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating saga 30 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is one of the best books I have read in years. Rich in character development and story, perfectly paced, shown and told, it's a page turner.

The description is right on. You can taste it, see it for the first time, or in my case, remember it.

We have here the best combination of the styles of Doris Lessing and Anita Shreve with the sweet excitement of Nora Roberts. I will read all of Ms. Ruth's books past, present and future. She has a fan in me.
