5.0 out of 5 stars modern-day beauty and the beast fable 15 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Wow...give me more - this is my first novel by this author but definitely not the last!

The story-line might be a touch (well OK lots) unrealistic - but this is a bit of a fantasy and on those terms it works really well.

The way the characters reacted together was great and really believable. I liked the way Libby was willing to put her career at risk to do the right thing and the hero....well, my toes are still curling!

The fast pace is helped along by the element of danger and I ended up reading the book in one go, not even stopping for a cup of tea - woosh, devoured!

This is just slightly on the dark side, very hot and if you like variations on the beauty and the beast theme, or for that matter the Tarzan theme, then I would guess that you will LOVE it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody does it better than Anne Stuart!! 27 Nov 2002
By Deborah MacGillivray HALL OF FAME VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I eagerly await EVERY Anne Stuart book. Don't care if they are reprints from her early days, or the newest novels - historical or contemporary. She does bad boys that we cannot resist better than any writer around. I noticed even Teresa Medeiros - one of the best Historical writers around took time to write a review for this book and called Stuart her favourite author!!

She is stiff scientist brought to an island by a Bill Gates/Howard Hughes Billionaire that claims to have a man - a 'tarzan' found in the jungles of his own private island. She is there is there to study him. She does like his right and left hand men, shady and sexiest. Nothing 'Feels' Right. Worse, she sees for herself they consider Tarzan little better than an animal, a man who cannot speak. Fearing for his life, she sets him free. Only Tarzan refuses to leave 'Jane' behind, so they are off in a race for their lives.

This is one good romp!!

4.0 out of 5 stars too short for me 12 May 2004
Format:Paperback
the idea of a tarzan like man, no inhibitions rippling muscles and he saves you from two goons, what more could a girl want - well a bit more to this story i think.this has the potential to be a good story but it was too short. it wasn't explored enough and the ending left me feeling baffled - would any women put up with a man wandering off on his own for days at a time? i wouldn't.
it was fun to read, but it could have been so much more.
dissapointing.
