Sweet! RPG on Kindle! 4 Feb. 2011

Thank you Arc Dream for releasing a Kindle edition of this book! As a GM and as a player, I hate having to lug around several kilos of heavy RPG books. I don't even own a car! As games often require more and more supplements, and these are more and more often hardcover (which is appreciated--hardcover lasts longer), my back is really taking the hit. I hope this is the start of a good many Kindle editions of RPG books.

That said, a review of the game itself: This is one of my favorite superhero RPGs, in a stripped-down edition for players and GMs who don't need all the (fascinating) backstory. Definitely a product I would recommend, though somebody in your group should buy the main Wild Talents core rulebook, to get the amazing setting info by Kenneth Hite.
The best superhero RPG system, hands-down 5 Jan. 2014

I picked up Wild Talents initially because the upfront investment was so small and I wasn't sure I'd be running a supers game at the time. What a fortuitous decision that was; this game has proven to be one of the best systems I've engaged with. The core system is simple, fast, and fun, using a dice pool mechanic based around rolling sets of matched numbers; the combat, resolved using one roll each, is quite simply the fastest I've ever seen combat in a tabletop game go. The power customization system is robust, allowing you to create any power you can think of without resorting to the complex maths of Hero.

The only concern I would voice about the system at all is its lethality; if you use the rules as written without any of their suggested tweaks to the damage system, combat is exceedingly fast and dangerous - I've had a PC literally one-shot an undefended NPC before. That said, the book acknowledges this and gives suggestions for house rules that can bring the damage down to a more four-color style, or you can keep the style as written for a story a la Watchmen or The Dark Knight Returns. It's a remarkable system, and I will recommend it for any supers campaign you can think of.
new way to game 12 Sept. 2012

I'm one part gamer and about three part comic fan. So wild talents is awesome all alone but on my kindle with a good dice app I went full digital on supplies. The other reviews are right you.ll wanna bookmarks before play shouldn't.t take to long and the rules are easy enough to learn your group should be up and running in no time.
interesting game. Ebook conversion needs work 18 Aug. 2011

Wild Talents is a supers role playing game. The question for a rule set is if it leads to the feel of the type of game you want from dark in tone to four-color cartoon. Wild Talents seems to, although it tends toward the dark.

The essential edition is a little more then game mechanics. It has a reasonable description of the superhero genre, and why you would want to choose certain options one way or another to achieve the flavor desired. And it has vignettes to give a flavor of play, and explain why certain mechanics have the effects they do.

The Kindle edition has much to be desired. As of August 2011 the Kindle edition has breaks at the chapters, but not a table of contents. So you do not see the chapter titles. So if you are using a Kindle, you can use the arrows to go to the next chapter. But if you are using any other reader, you are out of luck with no Table of Contents to make navigation easier.
Preferred Super Hero RPG 14 Jan. 2015

The char gen is hard but the game is easy and works beautifully in my opinion. Certainly an improvement over Godlike.
