5.0 out of 5 stars Superb new update of Wild Swimming Coast 12 April 2014
Format:Paperback
Love this, loved the old edition too (Wild Swimming Coast, 2009)

Amazing photos, amazing places. We have wild camped at some of them. Some good foodie recommendations - we had a lovely Sri Lankan sunset curry from the beach shack at Barricane beach in Devon!

A bit bigger than the old edition, and the main chapters are much the same, but lots of new places and maps.

We have the first edition of this book (Wild Swimming Coast) and have used it every summer over the last 5 years to find new places to explore. It had never let us down and the photos are beautiful, even if you just want to dream about white sands without leaving home. This new edition is a great update. As far as I can see:

- quite a lot of new hidden beaches (publishers say 50 new ones) particularly in Cornwall and Wales, also some super new ones on Norfolk coast, Yorkshire coast and Scottish Islands
- new symbols to help rank and rate the beaches
- a really useful set of maps at the back, with contours, footpaths etc. Previously we struggled to find some of the places, these look like a really sensible addition
- co-ordinates now in Lat Long so they work in smart phones, google maps.

There are some well known 'hidden' beaches / small coves as well as some really wild and remote places in the book. So amazing Kynance Cove is included (not very hidden) but the authors recommends how to beat the crowds (did you know that Pentreath is just 5 mins walk from Kynance and totally empty, and did you know about the huge rock pools you can jump into at low tide next to on the north side of Kynance?)

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book, and this edition is a great update.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for seaside adventures 13 April 2014
By Jack
Format:Paperback
The coastal scenery in Britain is absolutely stunning, and there so many fantastic photographs in this book that you just want to hit the road and jump in.

The book is organised logically with plenty of practical information: all the locations, access points, dangers to be aware of, places to eat, park, nearest railway stations etc. A must for anyone who wants to explore our hundreds of miles of coastline.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 22 Jun 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Great book, covers all of the UK more beachy destinations and secret coves than I will have time to ever get to visit, but I can dream in the meantime. The photography is superb and the end section with detailed maps and inspirational information is very useful.
One v minior downside - the numbering on the photos to reference the photo's location can be very hard to find/see.

The book promotes wild swimming but although we may not swim everywhere we are planning to find some of these beaches this summer. It's a beautifully illustrated book with photographs but also clear instructions on how to find the beaches, lovely!
