Format: Kindle Edition
Book 3 in the Shifters Unbound series moves from Austin, Texas to Las Vegas, and features for the first time, a shifter female lead, Cassidy, and a human cop male lead, Diego.

Cassidy and Diego meet one night when she saves his life and the life of two other cops who are being shot at by an unknown assailant. She's not supposed to be there, as she's a collared-shifter outside of her permitted area, but she's there to fulfil/honour the one-year anniversary of her mate's death, by performing a ritual ceremony.

Diego knows that if he hands her over to the shifter division, she'll be brutally punished, so he handles her case...which means having constant check-ins, and him being involved in shifter life and learning more about them, their values, their secrets...

There is a lot going on in this tale, as Cassidy is the No2 in her brother's pack, and therefore, a pack-protector, so she's tracking down the mysterious shooter, trying to find her mate's killer, whilst still trying to overcome her pain and her loss. I think this book gave far more insight into shifter culture, but I was surprised that a human cop, albeit one who had done the entire pack a service, was privy to so much 'insider' information, but at the same time, Diego from the very start of his association with the pack, proved his measure and his worth.

There's more to the tale, as Diego has his own past and agenda, and we get to see the leads from the next tale, which should prove interesting, as yet again, it's a 'match' that we've not come across in the series as yet. Sparks are already flying between that couple in this tale, and from the preview of the next book that we get at the end of this one, it sounds great.

A brilliant book in the best series of shifter books I have read... and I've been through quite a few!

The shifters in this series have been discovered and forced to live as second class citizens, collared to subdue any violent tendencies they may have. Forced to live together the shifters have formed a strong hierarchy and community that tackles the proximity issues they would have otherwise. This book sees Diego, when thrown into their world, forced to reassess everything he knows (or has supposed) about them.

That it can be a bit steamy in places, and that Diego and Cassidy get themselves in a royal pickle (this providing for future plot lines) makes for a cracking read.
