WILD ROSES - The gentle sister of Ireland’s most infamous rebel, Maire O’Byrne remains ever loyal to country and clansmen—until a strange twist of fate carries her to Lord Duncan FitzWilliam, the proud Norman master of Longford Castle. And now she must feign amnesia to ensure her brother’s safety—even as her yearning heart seeks the warm shelter of an enemy’s arms.

A man of peace in a land seething with rage, Lord Duncan is touched by this mysterious, afflicted lady whom he believes is a pawn in a dangerous family intrigue. Yet desire is Duncan’s greatest peril, for his need commands him to tear down the wall of secrets that stand between him and beautiful Maire—and to give himself fully and passionately to a love some would call treason.

Bestselling author Miriam Minger says: It's been a wonderful experience to have all my novels published as eBooks, but the greatest thrill for me as a writer is when readers take the time to let me know they enjoyed one of my stories...

"I have read hundreds if not thousands of books in my lifetime and not once have I ever been moved to comment on one until now. This is without a doubt one of the best books I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I remained at the edge of my seat devouring every single word you wove with this incredible story. I just wanted to let you know how deeply this story moved me and to thank you for creating it."

Wow. This one left me speechless...and grateful. I had done my job, which is to make you feel like you've dropped feet first into a world that captures your imagination and emotions so vividly you might be living and breathing the story. And that's one of the purest joys of reading, isn't it? I know it is for me...and it is my hope to continue to write books that make you feel the passion, live and breathe the adventure, laugh and cry and touch your heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deserving all Five Stars !!! 26 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a heart renching tale of love, and a real page turner, I could not put this down.
Maire suffered a disability and had lost hope of ever having a husband who loved her and her own family, these things would never be her's for what man would want her as a wife. When she was captured by the enemy Normans, Maire could not tell them who she was, protecting her rebel brothers and clan was paramount, she new the ememy would use her to get to them. Maire decided the best cause of action was to pretend she had lost her memory, while she thought of a plan to escape. However she hadn't planned on the honourable Norman Duncan FitzWilliam she found herself to be having feelings for the man, she was so torn between protecting her family and the man she was becoming to love. She saw no hope for her and Duncan, how could there be. This one reduced me to tears....a fabulous gripping tale.
I highly recommend this story, please note there is a first book you should read to get the best out of this and thats Wild Angel, the story of Maires brother Ronan, again excellent book. Enjoy !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Duncan and Maire - Five Stars All The Way 19 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The story of our little sweet, Maire, who was crippled and re-learned to walk but with an unusual gait was unbearably sweet. When Maire O'Byrne is captured by an immoralistic woman who intends to give Maire as a gift to her brother, Lord Duncan FitzWilliam, the Norman Master of Longford Castle, Maire is terrified that Duncan will learn who she is and hold her as hostage to get to her brother, Ronan, aka "Black O'Bryne," raider and tormentor of all the Normans in the area.

Duncan is an honorable man who has been known to hang his own people when they rape Irish women. When he realizes his hateful half-sister, Adele, has kidnapped the lovely woman he finds in his room, he immediately becomes her protector. Further, when he is told that Maire has been the butt of humor by Adele's friends due to the way she walks, he is livid. As the days go by, it takes very little time for Duncan to fall hard for Maire and she for him. Maire knows in her heart that things will never work out because Ronan hates Normans and Duncan and his men hate the Black O'Bryne for his raiding which has also resulted in some deaths.

Things do come to a huge head toward the end when Duncan realizes who Maire is and must find it within his heart to deal with her heritage. The reader will not be disappointed in the eventual ending.

**Spoiler** At the very end, when Duncan comes - alone - to get Maire, the woman he loves, from the O'Bryne keep, it was one of the most romantic images I have ever been presented with in this genre. Duncan is one of my favorite heroes in this genre.
