The Bullriders: Book One

Dante Rivers just lost the rodeo by two one hundredths of a point: he’s frustrated as hell, needs to get laid, and he knows just where to go. That night he meets Ryan Abbott and catches his eye—Ryan watched the rodeo and is still riding high on the rush. The chemistry between them ignites, but Dante, unable to deal with complications, leaves while Ryan’s asleep.

Ryan figures he’ll never see Dante again, but they’re fatefully reunited when Dante’s grandfather, Hy, hires Ryan to help straighten out some old investments. The attraction between Ryan and Dante still sizzles. Sex slowly turns to more, but obstacles abound: Hy’s failing health, Dante’s homophobic sponsor, an attack on Ryan, and Dante’s own struggle with his identity. Any one thing would be enough to separate them permanently… unless they both decide to hang on for the wild ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wild ride 27 Jun 2013
By Clare O'Beara TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
A bull-rider's life is not an easy one... Dante Rivers gets thrown around by half a ton of muscle, landing in the dirt and running for his life. He works hard at riding bulls, so after a rodeo he likes to relax, and sometimes that means a pickup bar. Ryan Abbot can't believe his luck when Dante plays pool with him and drops a few hints. Ryan's a stockbroker. He shows Dante that a night with him is more than just a quickie, but then they part.

The two meet again when Ryan is helping Dante's grandfather to sort out his affairs. The older man runs a ranch near Dallas and Dante does the physical work. Dante considers that the bull-riding scene is notoriously homophobic, although - or perhaps because - many fans are gay. Ryan might be very genuine, and good for Dante personally, but he's out and proud....

Andrew Grey thinks through all the details of people and work, and makes his story more solid. This is an adult read with lots of twists and turns in and out of the arena, and someone gay might take more from it than I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Author and loved it 11 April 2013

This is first book by Andrew Grey outside of the 'Taste of Love' Series (which I adored) and it's my favourite.

Dante and Ryan meet at a bar just after Dante has lost the Rodeo Championship belt by a heartbeat. Realising what Dante wants Ryan 'relutantly' takes control. I was at first (after reading the blurb for this book) a bit confused by the whole relutant dom thing but when the two actually go back to Ryan's room and he takes control I got it. The whole scene was just so well written - if the 'dom' puts you off a little don't let it. The earth as it where moved for them both lets say.

The book moves on when Ryan becomes Dante's grandfathers financial adviser. The two men meet again and start a relationship, both getting what they need from it. The book has emotion, is hot and the two men are just such strong characters.

Dante battles with being a rodeo 'rider' (not sure thats the right word) who is gay and some of the prejudices that exist in that world, especially from his sponsors. Ryan takes each step with him and supports Dante and Grandfather (who is dying) emotionally.

The 'big' scene comes when Ryan gets attacked and you see Dante step up and care for him. Where there were no feelings before from him now you get them.

Basically it's a story of two people falling in love and both of them getting in there in their own ways.

This is my favourite Andrew Grey book now. The descriptions of the rodeo were great - not knowing anything that scene I really got a feel for the whole circuit and competitions.

Emotional, very hot and cheeky (leather chaps!!) I loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is one story that has both action and heart. 8 April 2013

Ah, where to begin. . . A Wild Ride is the story of Ryan and Dante. Dante is a bull rider, a gay bull rider, determined to win but even more dedicated to his grandfather, Hy. Ryan is a financial consultant and a reluctant Dom. After the two men meet and have one perfect night, they each think they will never see the other again. What neither counted on was Hy hiring Ryan to help with his financial estate.

The attraction is red hot, but each man has fears. As each man struggles with his identity and past, they are set upon by homophobic sponsors, a gay bashing, and more. Watching these two men grow and learn to love together was a wonderful adventure.

This is one story that has both action and heart. The passion Andrew shows in his characters, world, and situations is nothing short of amazing. I simply couldn't get enough of Dante and Ryan, in and out of their clothes If you love stories that are both hot and sweet, then A Wild Ride is your perfect read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely a Wild Ride! 10 April 2013
By Tams - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
This book really was A Wild Ride! Fast paced, well written, action packed and sexy as hell. Ryan is a no nonsense, take charge guy in every aspect of his life. Dante has no choice but to be in control at all times. As a professional bull rider losing focus, loosing that control could cost him his life. It's no surprise that the single most satisfying sexual experience either one of them have, is with each other.

After an emotionally charged encounter, Dante runs. What should have been a one night stand becomes so much more when Ryan walks back into his life. Sparks are definitely flying and the attraction is electric, but Dante is still refusing to admit just how badly he not only wants, but needs the domination Ryan can offer him. As the story progresses their relationship grows and both men have to learn the meaning of the words give and take.

I loved the way Grey kept the story focused on Ryan and Dante, but gave us some fantastic secondary characters as well to round out the story. Dante's grandfather Hy sort of became the glue that held these two men together. Dante struggles with his identity as Ryan struggles with his past. The chemistry is undeniable, but they'll face a lot of obstacles on their journey to be together. The illness of a loved one, homophobia and a gay bashing remind us of the day to day struggles that gay men have to deal with in order to maintain a relationship. But they also get to have some mind blowing sex along the way!

If you like stubborn, sexy alpha males then this is a must read for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short, sharp and perfect 13 April 2013

Loved it, perfectly told from beginning to end. There was not one part of the book that didn't flow seamlessly to the next. Andrew Grey captured every scene with the right amount of words, not flowery just exactly what was needed. A lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.

A Wild Ride will grab you as firmly as Dante grabs hold to the bull and as firmly as Ryan and Dante will hold onto each other.
