I am a bit of an amateur photographer myself and have invested a great amount of time and money in the hobby so nothing annoys me more than seeing wonderful photographs getting poor treatment. Fortunately this volume is one of the better ones I have seen recently, with a reasonably good print quality, suitably heavy paper, and a format which is appropriate to the contents.
About half of the images occupy a page or a portion of a page to themselves, and the other half unfortunately cross the spine. There are very few images which seriously suffer from this - the large 24x24cm format and soft cover means that the proportion of the image hidden in the crack is tiny.
The selection of images in this volume is fantastic. They are all category or overall winners and commended images from past Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards, so there is very little filler. All photos have a blurb and camera details next to them, with an index of photographers and awards in the final few pages.
This is one of the most appealing photo compilations I have seen in a while and I would definitely recommend it. It's nearly half the RRP on Amazon so it's well worth it!

Have bought this book for my sons's birthday, he saw it when we were at the Natural History Museum for our holidays, its a beautiful book, lovely pictures and am sure he will love it.

Bought this book as a present for my daughters 18th. I was not disappointed, she loved it. Amazing photos -would make a great xmas pressie for anyone interested in wildlife!

A beautiful collection of photos
I ordered this second hand, which saved an awful lot of money. The collection of photgraphs are beautiful, a really lovely 'coffee table' book, and perfect for animal lovers.

A good wildlife book for the price
This book provides some amazing images of wildlife from around the world, but i feel that this book is like the poor Cousin of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year tomes.

wild planet
fantastic photography i can only aspire to. was bit disappointed some photos are cut in half by crossing book centre, would have preferred larger pages to hold complete photo.

An excellent book - highly recommend ! An excellent coffee table book - one to dip into - a great gift for someone who enjoys the natural world - a definite must buy !
