I am twelve years old. I read this book when I was about 9, and it gripped me. It is a fascinating read even now. It tells the story of the story behind the classic "Pied Piper of Hamelin". Mari is a feisty young girl who lives with her crippled brother, Jacob, and her useless father, Moller. Drawn to the mysterious Piper and his irresistible music, she is led to Elvendale, a wonderful land of many secrets. But when the Piper reveals his true intentions, the fun ends... trapped in a different form, Mari must find her brother, who was left behind in Hamelin, and protect him from the evil Piper. Little does she know that Jacob is already close behind - and a centuries-old curse may end at his feet.
Okay, that was poetic.
Anyway, this novel is GRIPPING and you can never get tired of it, no matter how many times you read it. It's ideal for children of all ages, and really interesting as you get to see characters from different points of view, and the villain doesn't turn out to be quite as he seems.
I recommend it so much. BUT IT!!! You will NOT regret it.
