More About the Author

Nalini Singh was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. She spent three years living and working in Japan, and travelling around Asia before returning to New Zealand now - although she's always plotting new trips.

She has worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher, not necessarily in that order. Some people might call that inconsistency, but she calls it grist for the writer's mill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Anthology 14 Mar 2013
By Sylarah
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
While I am not generally a fan of anthologies, I do enjoy novellas and Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, so Wild Invitation seemed perfect for me. While I can't say Singh's books are always to my liking (yeah, I'm looking at you, Guild Hunter-series), her novellas/short stories are always enjoyable, if a tad safe. Singh's writing is always a joy and the novella/short story format works very well with the romance genre.

I was really excited for Wild Invitation, and I wasn't disappointed with the book, even though only 2 of the 4 stories were new. The stories are all enjoyable and focus almost entirely on the romance, so this book is definitely recommendable to the people who miss the more romance focused early installments of the Psy-Changeling series. The anthology's novellas are also commendable for their much more down-to-earth couples and focus on new aspects of everyday changeling life, which I genuinely appreciate.

The novellas are Beat of Temptation, Stroke of Enticement, Declaration of Courtship, and Texture of Intimacy.

Beat of Temptation: Tamsyn and Nate's story takes place years before the events of Slave to Sensation, and as such offers a glimpse into the past of the DarkRiver pack. Beat of Temptation is perhaps the most melodramatic of the four stories, and while definitely not my favorite of the four stories, it is very entertaining and the tone is very in line with the early books in the Psy-Changeling series.

Stroke of Enticement: This story focuses on the short, intense courtship between Annie, a human, and Zach, a leopard changeling. The story isn't that complex, but the characters and their flirting are thoroughly fun and enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars She did it again! 12 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Of all of Nalani Singh's books I've always enjoyed the Psy-Changeling Series. I make sure as soon as a new one is released I have it. So I was truly excited when this time there was not one story but a collection. Each story could have stood alone and each character brought something different to the story. There was intrigue and passion balanced perfectly together to satisfy my imagination. And of course there was heat in abundance. A great read for a long trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful stories 21 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read all the psy-changeling book and this one as the others did not disappoint me, far from it. This book was slightly different as it was four short stories of four couples, two known ones and two new ones, rather than a whole book dedicated to the main plot and one specific couple. The author is so good at writing emotions as well as adding some fun and teasing into the relationships which is so enjoyable.

I continue to love the values from the changeling races and think our today society has a lot to learn in terms of caring and supporting each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another keeper 3 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'd just finished the tenth book before I read this which was perfect placement. I love this series, not as much as The GUILD HUNTER novels, but it's a very close second. The characters and the relationships they build are strong, sexy but tender. The action is good but not as detailed as Guild Hunter, the focus is definitely on the central couple of each book. Well worth a read, but start at the beginning.
