5.0 out of 5 stars Jackie Stephens Is Alluring! 22 Aug 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Jackie Stephens' Wild and Free is both an exciting and well-written historical romance. This book held me captive well into the night because I had to see how all the puzzle pieces went together. I was extremely pleased. Two of the main characters, Matt and Sunny, are both complicated and delightful. The secondary characters are integral to the story and Stephens manages to show the different points of view of several of them. Wild and Free is by far one of the best western romances I have read in quite some time. It is worth the time to see the layers of the story evolve. Matt and Sunny are characters that I won't soon forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars Held Captive 24 Sep 2000
By "shagen22" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Jackie Stephens impressive story held me captive well into the night. From the moment Sunny met Matt you could feel the tension and the connection. The ongoing story kept me spell bound waiting to find out what would be the outcome. The mixture of history and romance made this a book for all to enjoy and one worth reading. I hope Ms. Stephens will write a squel!
4.0 out of 5 stars Endearing read. 20 Sep 2000
By Affaire de Coeur - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Matt Lanier first meets Sunny when she points her gun at him. After some initial misunderstandings, they realize that they are both after the same man--Jake Walden who killed Matt's brother Danny. Walden also killed Sunny's mother and many of her people. Sunny and her mother spent many years with the Comanche, and now she considers them to be her people, more than whites. Jake hates Indians because they killed his parents, and this is one of the conflicts between Matt and Sunny. Everything Sunny does, she does for her brother and sister. Matt doesn't like that they are half Indian, but his mind begins to change when he meets her sister Gentle Wind. But she has more secrets, and she fears to reveal them because she might lose Matt.... Sunny's spirit is irresistible, and the secondary characters are wonderful.
