This handy pocket-sized book is a must for all non-package holiday travellers to Cyprus. Fitting ideally into a backpack or pocket, it contains a mountain of information not only about the diversity of wild flowers in Cyprus but their habitats and demeanour. Against a background of the history of the island Sfikas relates the introduction of humans to Cyprus and their effects on the ecology and geology.

The book contains geological maps, colour charts, plant keys and a glossary for plant identification suitable for the amateur or botanist. The photographs are sharp and well presented. It is definitely NOT a boring book and even for the non botanist it is a delight to read.

Well worth having on the bookshelf.

I think it's a handy little book which at 7 x 5 inches fits easily in thy pocket, the coverage of flowers is limited but fairly good. It has latin names and it's good to have some of the Greek names, but there are no English names, which I found hard for looking up things in the index. I prefer drawn pictures which can often show more detail than photographs, but the photo's in this book are fine. It was frustrating that I often saw flowers which are not covered in this book, many are listed (in Latin) as being found on Cyprus, but without any details to identify them. Some of the information about the flowers is on different pages to their pictures. The binding isn't strong so I wrapped a rubber band 'round my copy to stop loose pages falling out. It is alright, but could easily have been done better.

My copy is a paperback although I ordered a hardback. Initially I was pleased as it would be lighter to pack unfortunately the binding is so poor that most of the pages are now loose. It is certainly not a book to take into the field.
The content of book is excellent but limited as many of the the flowers that I found during my recent trip are not included.
