I have the hardback which was published last year under a different (and silly) title. But this is a very interesting book and has inspired me to have a go with some of the less well known ingredients. There aren't a huge number of recipes, but many of them are generic, and can easily be adapted to different circumstances. Mabey's style is relaxed and digressive, and he freely admits that there have been failures with his experiments, but many more successes. Don't expect a conventional cookery book; but if you want to try your hand at some interesting foods, and save money, and be more "green", then this is for you. I'm buying copies for family and friends for Christmas Tree Presents!
